ElenaManettahexuuur obviously not familiar with the fact that this situation started in week 2 because hub tried to scum a ffw off of reize. either know what ur talking about or shut up :)
I'd actually like to know a bit more about the situation, particularly why the original ffw was overturned?

The original FFW was overturned because they tried to ring somebody in advanced (which makes them auto not qualify as a default ringer) as a default ringer and then they submitted the FFW and left before contacting an admin.

So the whole thing that happened was in week 2 when we were initially supposed to play hubs team he tried to ring someone and our team leader asked what class he would be playing or just be restricted to med. Hub decided not to tell us anything so we deny the ringer and admins also knew that he was denied. Once match time comes we have everyone in the server but they had not proposed a new ringer and tried to say he was a default one, and while our tl was talking to admins about it they said they are leaving at 10:45 about 5 minutes prior and while we are trying to get it figured out they just leave and report score. We talk to the admins about it while we are just sitting in the server and it eventually gets rescheduled after a couple days of trying to find a time we can all play. Then fast forward to now and their player is banned on the 9th and they wait to tell us to reschedule again on match day because "they need to find another player" instead of just using a ringer or one of the others on their roster. He says we all blocked him after he called our tl the hard r for not scrimming him they day before we play him and proposes the we play on the 25th. We say no and reno told us to tell them that they need to get a ringer by 10:50 or we get the ffw and the admins handled the rest after that.

actually handled pretty well on rgl's end, couldve very easily turned out to be a bad situation but all things considered this was good. i think as it stands now its just hubida thats very negative of reno, but id like to point out anyways that reno's already doing a lot better than the brainless manchild makkabeus was, and her being the admin has saved us all from someone as absurdly stupid as ire from being head admin, since he was the only other applicant. so good on reno for handling this properly, and good on rgl for making the right decision between who ought to be the admin between those two.

Oh I didn't realize this happened before Asterisk joined the roster, assumed he was just a ringer bc rostered less than 18 hours. It's a little weird that admins would let him join a main roster but not let him ring for a main team. RGL ringer rules are in desperate need of some consistency, every admin has their own interpretation of them. What response you get to a support ticket about a ringer is entirely dependent on what admin responds. Last season in IM it was a given that Ire and Scream would disagree on any borderline cases.

The issue was that Asterisk was claimed as a default ringer. By the rules, he wouldn't classify as a default ringer in Main. The enemy team is allowed to reject the ringer because of this. He wasn't added to the roster until 9/29, a day after the match was supposed to originally happen. Asterisk is allowed to play in Main, but it's in the other teams ballcourt if they want to approve them or not in regards to them ringing for the match as long as they aren't a default ringer. That's why people roster subs instead of having ringers.

But it is

There is absolutely no reason to deny an advanced player (with a negative record) to ring in Main regardless of what class they're playing

I don't support Hubida or this team just to be clear, he shouldn't have had a breakdown over this

Because that's the difference between a ringer and a sub. You're allowed to reject ringers if they aren't a default ringer. That's why we have the default ringer rule, to protect teams.

Just my personal opinion, I do agree that RGL should relax restrictions much more than they have and I've talked with some people about submitting a detailed proposal to the admins to relax said restrictions.

However, as it is now, the restrictions are pretty strict right now. I have 3 or 4 people rostered right now who went negative in Advanced (or finished last) and on top of that haven't played in a few seasons and they are still restricted. By that standard, I can get why you wouldn't want players of that level to ring if you aren't allowed to have them on your own team.

Again, I do agree that the restrictions are too strict, but if they apply to both teams, I think it's fair to deny a ringer who would be restricted if they were rostered.

The only time that ringers vs subs matter is if the ringer is rostered/maining for another team

The person in this case wasn't rostered on any team this season

In HL, if my team knows we need a ringer, we literally just roster them to prevent the other team from shopping for a forfeit win. That's why you should never decline a ringer who isn't rostered -- they can just roster and you look like a fool for denying them

Part of our team making this decision is them not telling us what class he would be playing and them knowing him previously, in 6's one player can have a lot more impact than in highlander in these aspects like with offclassing which is why we would be asking. Saying to never decline a ringer that isn't rostered is not a great basis especially in 6's, there are plenty of really good players who don't play rgl or just play lots of pugs and stuff. Saying that because they can just roster them we should just let them have someone potentially better than anyone on their team or in the server isn't good. Rostering better players comes with restrictions and with that no complaints from us, but ringers can run free especially if we are not told what they are playing.

RGL RulesIn general, we will class restrict:

If a person has made the top 4-6 in playoffs multiple times in the same division (depends on the division size)
If a person has made playoffs in the division above
If a person is demonstrably better in a class than everyone else in a division

The fact that RGL can restrict someone because they think they're "demonstrably better" just undermines the previous two stipulations. It doesn't really matter if you go 12-4 or 4-12 in X division but if you drop down one below, RGL can just say "nah you're too good boom class restricted." They also consider any backing up + roster riding as experience / a factor, which is fucking stupid and hopefully is no longer the case.

I got restricted off demo in Open after S1. During S1 my team finished 8th overall after being the 1 seed in the playoffs. Here's the thing. I didn't play demo during S1, in fact I had never played demo during a season at all before. For S2 I was going to demo in open but my TL was told by sigafoo himself that "This player is too good on demo to play in open" (Obviously it isnt exactly what he said but it was along those lines). I had only played demo in pugs and I was mediocre at best at the time at demo. I really do not know why I was restricted to only playing medic after S1 in open.

i mean realistically this rule only works based on admin discretion
theres always players that are insane for their div yet dont make playoffs for whatever reason, and always players that are just ok and do make playoffs
the community is small enough, especially once you get to Main, that a well-connected admin can reasonably assess players individual skill level without defaulting to league records

u also absolutely have to use discretion with offclassing. im pretty sure sin karma hasnt played a season of scout, should he be allowed to scout in main?

how about some playoffs power rankings?
players are listed as f scout / p scout / roamer / pocket / demo / med

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tier I - Trophy Favorites: The Big 2

#1 - Make a wish_z Foundation
hyphen / nyxi / blank / wish / Puppy21 / blake
16-0 | 76 RW%

Leading the league in record but only tied for most class restrictions—the dreaded ~highlander players~ make a run for the W. With a perfect regular season record (including wins over the next 13 ranked teams) they seem the clear favorite to win the division.

#2 - afc players
spider (n3) / ethan / XBS / on99 / sushi / R33se
14-2 | 73 RW%

The other clear heavyweight team brings 2-time main champion sushi back to defend his title. Close losses to 2 other top teams during Clearcut week make this a bit of a shakier pick than Make a wish_z, but they seem to have improved since then with a couple of roster moves.

Tier II - Finalist Contenders

#3 - fresh trim
dotwet / dt / Yohnny / Joey Lemons / challengerwins / Squid
13-3 | 73 RW%

The only team to crack the Big 2's records comes in at an tentative #3. They've managed a very unpredictable season, upsetting against #2, taking rounds off #1, but losing to the next 2 teams I ranked below them. They boast a rock solid pocket/demo, and an incredible troublemaker of a roamer—if both their scouts are having a good day they could very likely see themselves in the grand finals.

#4 - THE MONSTARS
komp / yaima (bunnymonster (brands)) / slippi / FrostE / DeathToCats / randy
12-4 | 62 RW%

Bunnymonster returns after over 3 years to be exactly as good as he has been for the past 10. With some of the most experienced players around as well as some fresh talent, they've found a solid core this season. Despite their win over fresh trim, they failed to take a round off of the Big 2, and had some shaky performances vs sub-playoffs teams, earning them a very close #4 placement. If slippi can elevate his game for playoffs, and komp/FrostE both avoid their increasingly rare off days, they could definitely threaten a finals run.

#5 - PERUTECH
Nico / Vortex / Jigsaw / MoisDM / tony / reco
11-5 | 62 RW%

The high ping powerhouse for the season have delivered a strong performance so far, after an RGL rule debacle almost prevented them from playing at all. Despite, like MONSTARS, not taking a round off the Big 2, their win over fresh trim, as well as relatively clean wins against teams below them, earn them a #5 spot. The only 2 questionable losses they suffered were both on maps which to my knowledge are not commonly played in the SA scene, so I'm more than willing to give them the benefit of the doubt as an A tier team. If both their soldiers are activated at the same time they have more than enough firepower to push into the finals.

Tier III - Challengers

#6 - totally buff homiesexuals
tosm / jayy / NotDereck / DeltaMarket / ChaseDuck / ZoomxZe
10-6 | 56 RW%

The homiesexuals almost deserve a tier all to themselves with their somewhat unique record. Despite going 1-6 vs playoffs teams, they managed some very good performances vs the Big 2, including a 3-4 vs afc on Metalworks where they almost pulled off a reverse sweep. A spotty overall schedule would otherwise put them below their Tier 3 peers, but they've can compete well enough at any level to deserve #6.

#7 - C.R.A.I.G.
denisavich / illya / doiku / Maxx / MogulSoap / jakey
10-6 | 55 RW%

Sneaking into playoffs over Sweaty Spaghetti by only 3 rounds is C.R.A.I.G. (acronym meaning unknown). The squad only sneaks into a #7 placement however, with a win over the #7 team and a very close game vs MONSTARS. With MogulSoap returning to the starting lineup they have a definite shot at a strong performance vs Make a wish_z. I believe this has been one of the most promising and well-rounded teams this season, but going into playoffs as an 8th seed without much recent practice with their full starting lineup is a dangerous place for them.

#8 - reformed slur users
kier / dot / throne / tiptoes / keylime / starka
10-6 | 58 RW%

this all-lowercase team seems to have had a lot of fun this season while still making a playoffs run. their standout win was an out of left field 4-0 vs perutech featuring a massive performance from keylime. as i mentioned before, this may have come down largely to the map played, but it's a win that cant really be ignored. however, without strong performances against other top teams, and with some shaky performances vs teams like fgp and wangfang, their track record doesn't point to a very deep run. it is worth noting that they do come into playoffs with the benefit of a #6 seed, allowing them to avoid playing the big 2 until semis. all that said, with the skill and experience on their roster, they could definitely focus down and make a deeper run than expected.

Tier IV - Best of the Rest

I thought I'd give some mentions to teams that have done notably well despite not making playoffs

#9 - Sweaty Spaghetti
Durzo / Vio / Frisbee / Nootstook / quantum / pong
10-6 | 54 RW%

The moveup heroes of the season, Sweaty Spaghetti come off their 2nd place finish in IM season 6 to just miss main playoffs by a hair. With upset wins vs both MONSTARS and PERUTECH, as well as decent performances across the board, they showed they would have had what it takes to compete in playoffs. Despite not losing a game to any non-playoffs teams, their miss comes from a 1-5 W8B decider match vs CRAIG (had they won that game, they would have been seeded at least 7th).

#10 - fgp
lemon / bane / draco / tree / Wild_Rumpus / millie
8-8 | 54 RW%

I know I know, 8-8 records aren't even supposed to show up here, but it's my power rankings and I write about what I want, so I wanted to mention fgp anyway. Even though they ended 11th seed, they put up heartbreakingly close games against the top 8, even the top 4. With only a 1 round difference in their games vs Make a wish_z (the closest anyone got to beating them), MONSTARS, slur users, and Sweaty Spaghetti, they probably only a few key frags here and there from not only making playoffs, but coming in at a solid seed. Without any actual top 8 wins, and losses to the #9 and #14 seed, their placement is ultimately fair, but they stand out a lot among teams with similar records.

how about some playoffs power rankings?
players are listed as f scout / p scout / roamer / pocket / demo / med

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[h]Tier I - Trophy Favorites: The Big 2[/h]

[h]Tier II - Finalist Contenders[/h]

[h]Tier III - Challengers[/h]

[h]Tier IV - Best of the Rest[/h]

I thought I'd give some mentions to teams that have done notably well despite not making playoffs

#9 - Sweaty Spaghetti
Durzo / Vio / Frisbee / Nootstook / quantum / pong
10-6 | 54 RW%

The moveup heroes of the season, Sweaty Spaghetti come off their 2nd place finish in IM season 6 to just miss main playoffs by a hair. #10 - fgp
