supposedly having lots of demos in your /tf folder makes ur game run slower?
i can see why this might be the case but can someone who understands tf2's spaghetti code game confirm or deny? ty.

for some reason I did timedemo for one of my esea matches 3 three years ago and I guess the host_timescale was amplified for frame testing purposes. When I played a regular demo I noticed movement and the game was slightly slower not in frames, but just in feeling. I check and the timescale was default. So I'm like????????

total shot in the dark but it might effect initial load if it scanned the whole /tf folder, ive personally never heard anything about demos/files effecting live perf tho

yeah I figured it would only affect load times as well, but TF2 is so notoriously broken at this point that I wouldn’t be surprised if having a loaded tf folder made your fps take a nosedive
can someone with 1000iq post already I wanna know if it’s really worth the effort to organize my demos

File queries will find a "hit" for a specific filename according to the search path order defined in gameinfo.txt, it won't search through random files. As far as I know, Source doesn't use any inefficient search method to find files (like looping through all files). Also, I know that Windows has pretty efficient data structures for splitting up large directories so it won't inherently slow down reads, especially in unrelated folders.
