hi my p-rec demos for the last 2 weeks have somehow been recording all my demos on the map sj_providence for some fucking reason.
i reinstalled p-rec and that didnt change anything. i guess ill just fresh install tf2 and hope that fixes it.
the bigger question at hand is how do i change the map that the demo is loading when the demo boots up?? thank you if you have any knowledge

clean install of tf2
clean install of mastercomfig
clean install of p-rec (however, manually recording a demo does not solve the issue)
removed sj_providence_tf from my maps and downloads/maps folders.
launched cp_process_final, recorded a demo, played the demo, and got this.
please god someone must have an idea

edit: also if i change the name of the map for the demo im trying to watch to sj_providence_tf my game crashes when i try to play the demo.

this is above and beyond the funniest and most cursed bug i have ever seen and is made funnier by the fact that its a false map causing the bug

jemond is gonna ask me for my match demos and I’m gonna get banned because it’s 60 minutes of the void beneath a jump map

Switch steam acc+ vanilla /tf/ install or test on a diff PC? might be some fuckery that is related to something in your config on steam cloud. If it doesn't happen you'll probably need to scrounge through it for some weird shit. Also maybe consider just disabling steam cloud for tf2, I'm still running into shit from tonyolsens cfg that got migrated to mine from lan
And if u wanna confirm/clean slate that bitch you should be able to copy and paste steaminstall/USERDATA/(numbers)/440 to your main acc (BACK IT UP THOUGH. There's always something that goes missing when I need to do that.)

ty to uil and buildbruh for pointing me in the steam cloud direction. i followed this guide and it fixed the problem:
https://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/102694/is-there-a-quick-way-to-delete-saves-off-of-the-steam-cloud.
every demo i record (manually or with p-rec) now correctly notes the map played, and the demo will load said correct map.
i guess i'll share my hypothesis for where/when this bug happened.
the demos began to be affected following february 24th (the first demo i loaded in the video in OP). that weekend, i put my recording config and custom folders into my tf folder. either i did something wrong when loading/removing my playing config for the recording config or vice versa, or the steam cloud took some amalgamation of my playing config and recording config and saved it, eventually loading what was missing from my playing config i placed back into my tf folder from the amalgamation saved to the cloud.
my first hint something was up was when i loaded my playing config and all my binds were fucked up, but it figured it was just a config.cfg bug so i kept playing once i fixed it, completely unbeknownst to the fact that the game decided that every map was sj_providence_tf.
unfortunately my demos recorded in this time frame are unfixable to my knowledge, since when a demo is loaded the game looks for assets used on the map the demo was "recorded on" (in this case, sj_providence). when i change the map name to say, cp_process_f9a, i get a crash since the assets of cp_process_f9a (the map the demo was ACTUALLY played on) are not on sj_providence_tf (the map the demo THINKS was played)
moral of the story is fuck false.
