taking bets how quickly this gets fixed since it actually hurts valves wallet
interesting to think about the fact that one day valve just won't fix the big trading exploits.
cant this just be used to send keys back and forth to a friend and unbox infinite crates

yea but does this effect the community market? like can people list keys for sale (matching buy orders) and pull this exploit?

i think its only trades between users, not the actual market
dont see how that would work

Nope, the trades abort with the keys gone, if I've read this correctly.

It doesn't actually affect Valve directly. This should only affect trades between players (or bots) which Valve doesn't and can't take a cut from.
The community market should be safe and that's where Valve makes money.
Not fixing it so that anyone who wants to trade safely has to use the community market would actually be a big brain move and kill off most of the independent market that doesn't make Valve any money.

the existence of the secondary market is actually extremely beneficial to valve, you can see how thats true with CS:GO, which has an entire week ban on every trade you do and yet still people constantly use both 3rd party and steam community markets

Yeah, not expecting that to be on purpose, but there's a chance that someone sees the community market revenue going up and goes "well, no need to panic then. should be fine if we fix it next week (valve time)"
