I probably did it wrong, but I created a thread on the forums about a Request for CEVO - HL please if you're interested in a CEVO-HL add to it (they won't make it if they think their isn't any interest for it). UGC can't be the only NA league.

They added a Poll asking "Would you play in a FREE TF2 Highlander season?"

they tried this before like the vanilla challenge and I think 3 teams actually had a full roster
But who knows after recent events maybe people will actually give cevo a chance

I think if they were to make a full on bracket with reasonable unlocks rather than just vanilla they would get a lot more sign-ups. Especially if word got out that they were doing so.
I would put this on UGC to get A LOT of attention, but it would get deleted within 30 minutes anyway.

While there is a general resentment and distaste of UGC, just outright stating that they would get hundreds of sign ups and the entirety of gold and platinum would switch is HIGHLY optimistic. Truth is you or I have no idea how popular a CEVO HL league would be. They should start with something small like a tournament and then if that's a success they could maybe roll it up into something bigger.
I guess my point is that even if lots of people don't particularly like UGC, replacing it isn't something that would be easy to do. So many factors to consider like medals, pay-to-play, etc. I just don't want people to get the idea that if a competitor to UGC suddenly existed that people would just automatically flock to it by the hundreds.

pudding_cupthe entirety of gold and platinum would switch is HIGHLY optimistic.
"Most of what is current UGC Platinum and Gold would switch. "
I said most not the entirety
Maybe it is Highly Optimistic, but I'd certainly make sure every team in Gold/Platinum knew about it. Which I think would be enough to get a large chunk of them to sign up for CEVO. Now I didn't say they would leave UGC either, I assume a few teams would sign-up for both.

I assume cevo isn't going to be pay-to-play, medals might be a problem but I don't think medals will prevent a sizable number of sign-ups. So long as people know about it, and their was decent rules (or even a full copy of current UGC rules that could be changed over time) they would at least get a handful of teams.
You never know maybe people will flock to it like crazy, maybe it'll take 2-3 seasons to get most people, maybe CEVO-HL won't happen, but we have to try. I got a bit tired of seeing "Let's hope their's a CEVO-HL" and their hasn't been any request for it on their site.

It's definitely a bit optimistic; change isn't fast. Some people say they want an alternate league, but how many of those people are just going to switch over immediately?

Cevo doesn't even have a TF2 admin. There still isn't a prize for the first season. The client is really disruptive and unstable.

personally idk how well Cevo will do with this. Their first season back (last season) they had way to many dead teams in 6's, and didn't put a good first impression on a lot of teams/people for returning to the league. I can't say it'll be the same for HL, but from my personal experience Cevo wasn't anything that had to much promise

I don't remember the cevo client being that bad, I think it caused a bit of lag on low end machines, but that was really about it as long as you turned down the settings. Still gotta love the "Goodbye"

If CEVO was to take HL on they would imo gain a lot of members, odds are the addition of HL would improve CEVO as a league with a wider user base adding to the incentive to improve. Also take note that if CEVO did take on HL, UGC might improve as a league as well knowing they're no longer the only source of HL.
As for the prizes part, UGC only has medals even if CEVO had 0 prizes, UGC would only be minimally better in that regard with CEVO having significantly more room to improve and be better or at the very least just as good with prizes.
Lastly I wouldn't full on expect CEVO to just make a new bracket in a couple weeks. I would assume if they were to make a HL bracket that it wouldn't be until Fall-Winter. Giving them more time to improve.

I don't see why you'd only want to advertise to all of Gold and Platinum. Advertise all the way down to mid of steel. There are tons of reliable teams at the bottom that would do wonders for padding league numbers.

I didn't say I wouldn't. I only stated what I knew about Gold/Platinum I've had multiple conversations with people if they've wanted another league with HL that they could play in. Most of them happen to be Gold/Platinum players. Mostly because I play with Gold/Platinum players.
In the Future though if CEVO - HL is going to exist, I will make sure as many people as possible that are even vaguely interested in playing Highlander will know.

CEVO|SpanglerWe are gonna try and run a Highlander season alongside a 6v6 season (different match nights) for Season 2 to determine the better format when going into Season 3.
There will be no prizing for 9v9 for Season 2 so we are relying on the TF2 community to make it as popular as possible in order to provide it in the future.
Also initiatives can be done for different division levels within 9v9 similar to how UGC has Gold, Silver, Iron but we run Open, Intermediate, Main, etc if demand and turnout warrants it.
Also for 9v9 I would like some members currently participating in Highlander to message me, I want to make sure I iron out all the details before launching registration which would include viable map pools, rules, etc.
We leave it in your hands!
Registration will open up May 2nd!

Yes because that's definitely the real reason that they flagged the post, not the fact that he just pointed out how much of an idiot infinite is.
