sheep, please snipe! :D
TLRFrom what I've seen, the top aus players are all quite individually skilled. The problem comes from the teams they are playing against. From some of the aus povs I have seen, it looks like pickup games or US teams from 3+ years ago. vs teams like that, it's super easy for a player with good dm to run in and kill half the team (ex. carnage 3 years ago). That alone doesn't work now.
I would expect them to beat most of the teams fairly handily, but lose to the top US/EU teams due to coordination and team play they aren't used to playing against.
From my observation of ESEA regular season and LAN, a player "running in" with good dm and killing half the team has worked quite well (re: ruwin, clockwork). It's not too hard for a good scout to exploit a small window of opportunity to turn it into a massive advantage (eg. no rockets loaded on pocket, no stickies, etc). Not only that, it's not like we rely on our scouts to do work for us. I have confidence in every member in my teams dm ability and decision making.
I'll admit that our competition in Australia isn't as close as it is in North America, but it doesn't automatically make our teamwork and coordination any weaker than the other top teams. As I've said in the past, four of us have played together for nearly 3-4 years, so I'm PRETTY SURE that our coordination/teamwork for the most part is 'pretty good', considering that most invite teams last a season or two max.
It's good to see the hype building up, though. Should be good.

Given that ruwin and clockwork could club an elephant to death with their big-dicking, I wouldn't base much off of their playing, specifically. Ruwin is very much enabled by the rest of his team, and without the incredibly aggressive style that mix^ uses, he'd be focused down every time.

idk dude, I'm pretty sure most people would react the same way to their team being shittalked when you've put in a ton of work and have confidence in your abilities.
And honestly, nobody can really say how they'll perform at i49. They might get owned, they might blow NA and Europe out of the water. I mean shit, Europe didn't expect NA to do so well last i46.

I watched an OzFortress prem game on badlands where the team defending last ran both of their scouts and medic out of last across bats and onto graybridge to kill the enemy combo. But then, obviously, the other 4 players pushed into last in a 4v3 and won.
OzFortress games are entertaining as hell, but that's because of frequent outrageously aggressive plays that are easy to punish for a well organized team.
I can't see them competing with HRG.
It would be exciting to be proven wrong though.

So... sheep isn't enabled by our team? And we don't play aggressive?
Have you watched our team ever play a game? Why are there so many question marks in this post?

Not really. I'm just confident - not arrogant. It's ok, though - blue name means you're correct.

Oh, he's enabled. But it's not just as simple as the previous implication was. Just had to clarify that point.

Let's be honest, most people posting that iM is simply outclassed by HRG can't even name iM's entire roster

Why does it matter how anyone thinks they'll play? If they perform well at i49 then they're pretty fucking good. If they go to i49 and don't do so well then they're not that good.
Why is it so important to figure out how they should place beforehand?
I honestly don't know why NA players get so damn defensive about these kinds of things.

And yet they've been together for four years*. Perhaps they should have made a name for themselves by now?
* I think this is very admirable, and wish it were the case for European teams too (RIP 9m). But teams like to win, and keep winning. There hasn't been much cause for iM to change their roster given their dominance of OZF.

All the shit talk is pretty much guaranteeing the presence of OZ with their A game. I like it.
I wasn't going to bring it up but honestly whenever I would watch yuki's stream I thought he played kind of dumb and I found his analysis(or complaints haha) of certain situations to be pretty inaccurate. Not to shit talk or anything but if this is a representation of their play, I really do think the level of play in Australia is well below na/eu.
again, maybe I just tuned in at bad times! I really haven't watched them very much but I have watched both yuki's and sheep's stream on occasion.
