Zimmy2sy_morphiendZimmyIm from Illinois, and I hate the Blackhawks. I like the Blues, but theres no way they win, so I'm going with Anaheim.

Honestly, it's mostly because of the fans around here. Personally, I've been playing hockey since I was four years old. No one really cared about hockey (at all) until after the Hawks won the Cup back in 2010. After that it was "OMG I LOVE HOCKEY" around here and it got really annoying really fast.
Nobody cared about hockey in Chicago cause until i think 07-08 Season, there were 0 blackhawk games on tv. The old owner was crazy and didnt want any games to be on TV. Once he died and his son took over, fans were actually able to watch their team. This also coincided with toews/kane being drafted.
The year before chicago won was the first year with all 82 games on TV. A lot of people didn't really care before because they couldn't.

Hawks got incredibly popular in 2009 as well, there's no reason to be some bitter hipster about how you were THE OG HOCKEY FAN when the previous ownership pretty much sabotaged the popularity of the hawks in their own city.
Mind you Bill Wirtz was actually booed at his funeral.
