you're making a statement, there seems to be no end goal envisioned in this thread, if you want edifice in the map rotation, why don't you do something about it instead of stating it.
cp_quay is hands down the best map in the game, I dont know how any other map even competes with it
ToastyTHTflippersyou're making a statement, there seems to be no end goal envisioned in this thread, if you want edifice in the map rotation, why don't you do something about it instead of stating it.This is where an intelligent person realizes that even though someone didn't ask a question, it doesn't mean you couldn't discuss.
Ex: someone makes a thread called "Hitler did nothing wrong" and writes in it "Jews aren't people", you can say "Bro, are you high? Get the fuck out of here, Hitler killed millions"
Independent thought is sooo kooky
I think the Jew example is really inappropriate for these forums, just imo

Having more options doesn't automatically make a map better. I mean cp_follower has a lot of options/routes everywhere, doesn't make it a better map than badlands or granary.
I've never played ediface though so I can't say if it's better than gpit, but gpit is a pretty damn good map (unless your team can't handle the highest pressure and punishing map in the game).

People in 6s will always prefer to give up one point and turtle the other, just due to the nature of splitting up your team again an unknown offense.

Isnt the point of edifice to make both points viable to defend instead of one being vastly better than the other?

I honestly don't think it's actually possible to make one point as viable as the other, since whichever team is most know for defending X point and winning against all other invite teams everybody else will attempt to copy it. But while people are still trying to figure it out, people will probably try out both points.

I wouldn't be so sure. The reason you give up A on gpit is that if you try and defend it you will just compromise your B defense so much that your overall time will suffer too greatly. Teams that just dedicate themselves to B almost always end up with a longer overall defense.
Now, in theory, because A and B on Edifice are pretty much the same distance from red spawn and both points have the same number of entrances, they should be equally defendable. But the truth is we can't yet know whether defending both points will generally yield longer times than just committing to one or the other. We wont know until teams really start playing it seriously.

i actually don't think that its even possible to "iron man" on edifice either, just seeing how long it takes to rotate from A to B. even if you rotate through the tunnels your team will be in a relatively weak position to stop either point (ie you are REALLY far away and in the open trying to rotate to B, and rotating to A there is high ground directly overhead the tunnel, easy to have a bad uber or drop players to easy spam).
what i'm getting at here is that you're forced to choose one or the other anyway, which in my mind doesn't make for a great A/D map. the format is already random as fuck, and the last thing you want in competitive are things becoming more random.
the map is in UGC 6s this season, right? so I guess we'll see how those matches go.

When I said this I wasn't talking about preferring a point to give up, I meant preferring to give up a point as opposed to iron man.

yeah i knew what you meant. it just got me thinking about whether or not you could effectively iron man on edifice, which should be a viable strategy on an A/D map.

Yeah, that's how A/D will tend to work tho at the same time its possible ironmaning could be more effective on this map thanks to the equal distance between the points, the only way to know for sure is to have higher level people test the map seriously.

ironman may be more viable on edifice but it's always riskier to the timer directly because you give up turtling
If you haven't played a serious scrim on it, You won't know if its actually worth playing or not.
We played the fuck out of cp_ashville and it was really fun in pugs. Look how that turned out.

What pugs were you playing? I remember everyone in pug.na hating it. Although maybe that was after people realized how bad the map was for 6s? not sure

New map pugs from around the time season 10 started in alphas and betas until it was voted into esea in s12. We played the fuck out of it.

Pug NA is seriously the worst sort of environment for getting feedback on maps. They hate everything. Honestly, you have to get a map with at least one season of play in ESEA before people will even CONSIDER not RTVing off.
Not defending cp_ashville, obviously it was a stinker. But if I judged any map's worth based off how people respond in pug NA, I would never have even made process.

We play koth_ashville a fair amount in pugna. People always get mad b/c I run the black box full time on that map, but regardless maps that are "good" do get playtime even if they don't have a season in ESEA already.
jk we only play badlands b/c servers are broke as fuck

I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to say here, but koth_ashville did have a season in esea. Also its only fun in pugs imo, but that's not really the important.
