Frustrations vented. Thank you to the people who read what I had to say and understood what I was getting at <3.
but a couple of little kids with a personal vendetta decided to try and steal the show, instead of taking the mature, logical approach to this and attempting to unite the coverage scene for a united Team Fortress LAN event.
I presume that's why I have logs from the vanillatv staff channel where you are proposing quite seriously that no one from TFTV be allowed to cast for VTV at i49?

That was after your proposal mate :)
Though I was aware Arx was doing this post...this isn't to cause an argument. It is honestly to let everyone know we aren't always the culprits even though it may seem that way to some.
Arx is venting some frustrations that have built up a while ago I guess and this was the easiest way.

If TFTV have put in a lot of work and have been planning it why shouldn't they put it a proposal?
Why would you post their proposal in this forum thread? That's classy.

Yeah... From before or after you sent your coverage proposal to Multiplay? If it's after, then obviously it goes with the point of this thread.

You've been competitors ever since a merge was openly rejected. They were perfectly within their rights to try and compete for a spot to cover i49.

I don't think he was trying to make that point, the way I read it was slightly different.
I guess this is trying to point out we do want what is best for TF2 and not just to be seen as 'wasting time' or another other word associated.

Must have missed that. Oh well. This thread is still crap.
Multiple organizations in such a small scene is going to cause competition for coverage. Nobody has the right to anything and everybody needs to earn it. The fact that anybody considers it disrespectful to get exclusive coverage is laughable. Welcome to the battle for content that other major games experience on a much larger scale.

Arx Multiplay took the courteous approach and informed us that TeamFortress.TV had submitted a coverage proposal and that we too had to submit one, otherwise TeamFortress.tv would be given the coverage slot. Sure, the Multiplay events do not belong to VanillaTV.
What's wrong with this? two organizations submitting proposals to gain exclusive coverage of an event. This is how business works my friend, get used to it...
you yourself said multiplay does not exclusively belong to vanilla.tv, tf.tv should have every right to be considered to cover the event exclusively just as vanilla.tv has the right as well. Fair competition, nothing wrong here sir.

Nothing is wrong with it. But surely the better solution would have been for the organisations to work together?

I don't really get the point then, a tl;dr might help.
EDIT: yeah as said below, vanilla really hasn't been open to a merge so why would TFTV assume they'd be ok with sharing i49?

I feel like this offer was declined months ago and is part of why the tf.tv staff has the European members it does.

It's a perfectly legitimate and strategic business decision, I am sure tf.tv wants to have all the viewers tuning into their stream instead of splitting the viewers up between vanilla and tf.tv.
I assume this is a business decision on tf.tv's part they can in return take those numbers to sponsors and advertisers, instead of having lesser numbers because it would have been split with vanilla.tv.
Makes perfect sense.

Did we really need a thread and a short novel to accompany it for you to tell us that somebody hurt your feelings. If your goal was to make yourself look like a bitter child then congratulations you've done a fantastic job.

I wasn't moaning about having to write a proposal out. I'm moaning that TF.TV decided they didn't want to try and work with us to produce something spectacular, they wanted to just... take the event, discarding the work VTV has put into hosting these events over the years.
Their goto solution was to send a proposal directly to Multiplay. My frustration is because this should have been the last resort, if they truly wanted what's best for the TF2 community, they would have attempted to unite the two coverage organisations and pull all our resources together. But I imagine the proposal was lead by Skyride and Comedian who have a personal vendetta against VTV. It's a shame.

We shouldn't be fighting over this. The whole situation is stupid, stream quality doesn't mean shit if there is no promotion or view numbers. Instead we should be trying to make this event as big as possible. But were just sitting here going "ugh i hate dis guy he suxs and cant adio." Come on man ya'll really don't know what this is about do you? It's about the game, it's about the community. You guys are fighting over a logo cover and ad revenue...
hopefully this will just result in a higher production quality on both sides even though they are both really good, yay for competition.
Aaaand this seems like a pointless discussion because VTV got the proposal, whatcha whining about? You're covering i49.
^ you should visit etfl more often :) or just check the bottom of this from time to time :)

Yeah I think in an ideal world it would be perfect to unite both, but there has been too many Bridges burnt not to light the way to these conclusions. I want to support TF2 and that's why, despite my affiliation with TFTV, I will support VTV at i49 as much as I can and I genuinely want them to succeed.
I understand that you are an outspoken guy Arx, but I don't think this post achieves much more than hanging out dirty laundry for all to see. I think its great you're passionate about this game but if this is aimed at the TF2 community it shouldn't be so specific.
Blessings and do a good job
Thanks,
