Hey everyone~

What was your first job? What first job do you recommend?

The reason why I ask is because it's about time I start making some money rather than playing TF2 all day. I was thinking Jamba Juice or something similar, but is there a better route?

Interested in finding people's opinion too, I plan to find my first summer job soon, something in a supermarket or store

You don't have a choice. It's going to suck. Try to get one where you get free food.

I have worked at Pizza Hut (don't hate me because it isn't Papa John's) for about a year. I mainly do preparation. I only work on the weekends as I can't drive, and even if I could, I don't have a car to drive and can't get one due to neighborhood restrictions. Despite this, it's a good job, the people there are great, and I get a little extra cash to spend. :)

This is not guaranteed. Your experience may vary.

I also mow my grandparents' and their neighbors' lawns. They pay me when they really shouldn't.

I worked as an usher at a stadium/concert venue. Saw a lot of shows and sports events for free. :) It was pretty cool.

Pizza Hut was also my first job back in high school for $5.50 an hour. The work itself is shit like any entry level job but I worked with a bunch of people around my age and I had some of the most fun I've ever had in my life working there.

I worked at a copy store.

It was actually kind of fun, but only if you ignore the fact that the owner was a micromanaging bitch. Most employees didn't last more than a month before they stormed out of there in the middle of the day after getting yelled at by her in front of all the customers. I was unfortunate enough to work there for 3 years. Blech.

Yeah it's pretty much this. Make sure it's food that you like, too.

I'm working as an over night stocker (10pm until 4 or 6am) and it's a lot better of a job than most places and most positions for a regular job. I don't get to work full time yet so my paychecks could be a little better. I'm not sure how grocery stores where you live work with night time, sunday and holiday premiums (I get 50c more than day time workers, and on Sundays I also get another dollar per hour. Holidays I get time and a half), but I like the job/position I have and the money I make, though I wish I was full time already.

Same here. My first job was at Pizza Hut as a delivery driver while I was still in my senior year of high school. Made some pretty good cash in tips. I eventually moved up a few spots, so work got even easier. The work wasn't too bad to begin with and it got me through college, so meh.

Ref soccer any sport. Literally anyone can do it. You usually have to take a class, but it's often a single weekend or something.

I work for the parks department doing land maintenance, which pretty much boils down to mowing grass, trimming hedges, ect. Some days it's hard work but I get a lot of hours (40+ a week) and make a decent wage for a job that requires no skill. The other benefit is that i get to be outside and don't have to deal with any customers. If you don't mind waking up early and doing a lot of physical labor i'd recommend it.

Personally I think everyone should work at least a year in customer service when they're young. That way, people don't grow up to be giant assholes to people employed in customer service(or just in general).

Two things right off the bat to expect:
1. You're going to make minimum wage.
2. It's going to suck.
Obviously some jobs are better than others, but 99% of the time as a 15 or 16 year old (I'm assuming since this is going to be your first job) your options are very limited. (I'm 20 and I just finally got a job that isn't miserable). Not trying to scare you, but hopefully you find something you can somewhat enjoy.

College English tutor because I was too lazy/not allowed to get a 'real' job back in high school I waited until university to actually get anything done.

If you can get something vaguely related to your field of interest, go for it since the experience is valuable, but don't count on being able to find anything stellar.
