Have conservatives ever heard of SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE?
Edit: What I meant was that you shouldn't be able to dictate what other people do if it's not hurting anyone.

CondescendingCandlestickHave conservatives ever heard of SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE?
"Where does the Constitution say that that exists?" -conservatives who disagree with gay marriage
Separation of Church and State would be great, but TBH that's 100% impossible. Where do you draw the line? If I start a religion where my God tells me I must kill a non-believer every day, and the state can't interfere in my beliefs, what's stopping me from murdering people every day? Their religion says that the punishment for murder is death, and it also demands the same punishment for homosexuality. To them, it's like legalizing a crime as bad as murder, and to overturn DOMA is to force our religion on them.

It's not about the State having power over a religion, it's about a religion governing the laws of a country. In a country with freedom of religion the Bible is never a legitimate argument, that's the point.

I don't know if that is appropriate to say that, especially in this thread. People have the right to believe/not believe in what they please.
Saying what you said means you think it is wrong to believe in a god. And that they should believe the way you do since it is not sane to stay in a wrong state of mind. But isn't that what the whole goal of all the equal rights movements are about, is equality for all and tolerance of people of different mindsets? Especially this specific piece of legislation. Why should people, who believe in a god, accept those who do not believe the way they do if those same people do not do the same? Just my two cents and something to think about.
With all that said, this was probably a good thing that it died.
