KanecoflatlineI've created a sort of "system" on the spy page for stuff like this (with main articles and whatnot)
woo posting
I actually like this layout. Gives the possibility of having a small description of the purpose of the class and then links to the main article for that gamemode.
Might actually adopt this as the standard format
I changed the format of the scout page to this. We should focus more on infrastructure right now, not actual information.

whoever puts rosters on team pages will be doing god's work. At this point I think everyone has been on everyone's team.

Right now, it seems like the basic class page formatting is done. Now for the maps.

Uhh should we make Pages for Individual Weapons/Items?
Kinda like
Gunboats
Section 1. Stats/What they do
Section 2. Their Uses in 6s
Section 3. Their Uses in HL
Section 4. Random Item Specific Strategy
?

This should really be done in someway on THIS site. The purpose of this site was supposed to reduce the amount of spinoff/branch websites on competitive TF2. TFTV is supposed to be the center of everything competitive TF2.
A website/wiki like this has already been done more than once before and it doesn't help that they're all spread across the web.

Why are there two pages for 6v6? There's at the moment Standard 6v6 and 6v6, and I don't see why it's necessary to have both. Also make 6s redirect to 6v6

Integrating an entire wiki into a forum would probably take a lot of work. I can't see why it can't just be inexorably linked to tf.tv, through a link in the top bar or something. A lot of these trading sites have something similar, bazaar.tf is linked to scrap.tf and backpack.tf, regardless of being separate domains. I can't see why it won't work here.

I've done a little margin of work in the Official Tf2 wiki (wanted a wiki cap so badly), so one thing to learn is that writing is a key factor here. I suggest you go read their guidelines on proper writing for articles.

"Guide"
engima's already done this with atf2.org, I don't see why he'd have a problem with this unless he just flat out didn't like how it's set up

I think that it should be integrated here instead. I mean there aren't going to massive swathes of pages for absolutely everything (ala elder scrolls wiki, KoL wiki etc.), it could just be a "Wiki" link in the top bar, which has class guides, team histories, famous people etc. No need to split traffic.

renxzenCould we do some tf2 history?
Like the forming of mixup or bp. Clockwork's career (like some kind of http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/IdrA)
It'll probably happen, but that's not very high on the priority list

I'm trying to add class images as links instead of raw text, but I'm an idiot in that regard. I uploaded all of the images under the name ScoutIcon, SoldierIcon, etc., would someone mind doing that on the front page?

Is there a particular reason to use this over the regular TF2 wiki? The comp section on it is stalled, but it already has a few articles written, and it is on a website that is linked in the game.

Precisely, the Official TF2 Wiki has a sufficient amount of Competitive TF2 articles for a newcomer or a player to learn the basics and the rules and the norms of 6v6/Highlander play. Unless this wiki does something amazing, the official is just superior in pretty much all aspects. Only way this could probably stand out would be to make highly superfluous articles that would be more suggestive than informative. E.g. "I think jumping the medic should only be done when the time is right".

I agree. As nice as it is to have our own wiki, there is already so much competitive content on the wiki and we can just add our input to it.

It's the same reason why we don't just petition to have a subforum on skial and Lotus clan, it's something predominantly controlled by the competitive scene instead of a separate entity. Also, I personally feel that it's much better to have a competitive wiki that is actually controlled by the competitive community.

Did any of you actually read the comp section of tf2wiki and got something out of it? Be honest.

The entire comp section is very segregated (the map pages don't even link to their comp versions) and a lot of basic pages are missing. I've done my best to make some pages for the basic maps, but I don't know enough, especially about maps that aren't played anymore, to help. If you got on the IRC, worked with the admins, and actually made pages, you could have a respectable introduction to competitive TF2 that new players could discover on a website linked in game. Also you can get a pretty neat hat

We should have a glossary of commonly used terms in competitive. Things such as lit, flank, combo, etc.
If we're having individual map pages, a list of commonly used terms for areas of maps should also be included.

renxzenCan you do the quotes system?
There are some things that players don't agree with other players, e.g.
Platinum leader of the team Classic Mixup said: "Heavy is useful as offclass because...". However tri said "Heavy is only useful when...". The general consensus is that heavy is more useful at holding last than pushing last etc etc etc
Seconding this. A lot of content on there will be opinion. Claims should be cited so people can pass their own judgement.

A wiki is meant to be informative, not a learning experience. If you're already integrated and knowledgeable of the inner workings of competitive TF2, then it's only natural that you won't "get something out of it".
http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Competitive_play
This page here, is the competitive play "main page" for 6v6/Highlander. To me, this page covers a vast majority of what needs to be covered in Competitive TF2. You could literally copy and past the source of the article and it's sub articles, and the new wiki we are trying to create "Comp.tf" would practically be finished. There are loopholes however, there are maps missing, leagues missing, and etc. Would just be easier to help the already massive and effective cause of an official wiki. Creating a competitive wiki by itself would just be needlessly redundant.
