32 teams seems pretty massive for playoffs, but I'm not sure how anything other than powers of 2 would work.

Currently there is 8 teams tied in WL at 9-5 (positions 15-23), as well as 6 teams with 10 wins (positions 9-14). All of the 10 win teams have potential to make it still, although Hopscotch toss will be close I think, as they've already played 15 matches. They will be right on the border of having enough RF if they win their last game.

I think a few of the 9-5 teams may already be out, simply by not having enough RF to make it even with 11 wins. It also needs to be considered that the most rounds a team can get this week is 8, as opposed to the normal 10.

Everyone from Satori Six (24th) and down is completely out of the running.

The only team that can potentially take first seed from rastle is Dango. But for that to happen, Dango needs to win both matches, and Lzuhura needs to beat rastle 4-2. However, considering Lzuhura plays Dango as well, it seems unlikely for both those things to happen.

Regardless, the top 4 teams will all remain in the top 4, and only seeding can change now. There is a lot of potential MOTW's here, as there is a number of matches between the top 4 teams. I think Pandamonium has a lot to prove here, as they're yet to lose to a top team, however they've hardly played any top open teams after getting an easier schedule from 2 losses on gpit.

this or 16 would be cool. 32 just seems like it trivializes getting a playoff spot, could just be me though.

I agree that 32 would be too many this season, but if open is bigger next season (it should be judging from current trend and that summer seasons are usually smaller) it may very well be an option then

considering 20+ teams are dead 32 team playoffs would be like 60% of open atleast

Not to mention that (as far as I know) any team that makes playoffs is bumped into IM for next season, and 32 teams is wayyyy too many, not to mention like half of them will probably die.

Unless the teams in IM get moved into Main for S15

I would not see a huge benefit to have 4 divisions of TF2 at the moment in ESEA. Maybe in 1-2 seasons? Things need to stabilize with the current IM teams. (Just my toughts)

I thought Killing said in order for Main to happen they'd need like 35+ stable IM teams, and there are only like 20 teams in IM right now.

wouldn't 16 teams moving up be enough? 20+16 = 36. Sure many teams die between and after seasons start, but 32 teams (32 being over 50% of open) moving up?

That's the main issue here. If you want to build another Div then you have to start early. If you don't then it will never work (given the team dying)

32 team playoff would make my team make it. But fuck that we wouldnt have earned it. That would mean teams that were at an even record could make it. Thats just crazy.
