This may or may not be the right place to discuss this, but I want to bring to attention that quality of tf2mix pugs have gone steeply downhill over the past month or so. People running pyro to mid, medics that have the ubersaw out more than the medigun, people who seem not to have mics or otherwise refuse to communicate. Obviously shit like this is going to happen occasionally, but it's starting to happen more often than not. I don't treat tf2mix like esea LAN, but I also would like to have some fun and get some practice in once in a while. I don't know what the admins have to say about this, but it would be interesting to hear their two cents, because it definitely didn't use to be this bad.
I know this isn't addressing the root of the problem, but if you message admins on IRC they're very helpful about these kinds of problems.
How about the time when I picked my team and 4 players didn't show up. We decided to just 5v5 since subs weren't coming. The other team just skipped capping mid and just spawncamped us the rest of the pug.
Or when people argue for 3 round who is pocket or roam and then continue to argue after we settle it. God.
I think there at times aren't nearly enough admins on tf2mix (compared to pug.na at least), and that coupled with the fact that tf2mix admins are not nearly as ban happy as pugna admins lets a lot of people get away with this stuff.
However, there is two sides to the argument. A lot of people find those games with stupid offclassing, IDGAF quickfixing, etc. to be a lot of fun, and thus don't see a problem with it. If someone starts offclassing and it's bothering you, tell them in chat, at least give them a warning, because they might not realize.
Once you've given them a warning, and they decide not to stop ruining the game for you, then you should contact an admin, and like Snowy said, they will probably do something about it.
I would however, like so see more crestricts handed out, and I think a minimum game requirement like pug.na has would be great too. The troll games often come out in obviously one sided matches, and they just plain aren't fun when you are getting rolled game after game (or rolling for that matter). I have to say, there is a lot of awful captains in tf2mix, and a lot of people captain just so they get to play.
So yeah
- more admins
- more crestricts / minimum games for captaining
- strict guidelines every admin is briefed on
- be a little closer to 0 tolerance

HellbentFix the terrible servers while you're at it
They aren't terrible, they're just in Dallas.
They aren't terrible, they're just in Dallas.
I played one yesterday where 4 people on the enemy team ended up leaving after 2 rounds. was frustrating
I stopped playing in tf2mix cuz of this stuff. Wasn't fun anymore. Things always shaped up real quick when vile or eldritch showed up. More admins would probably help a lot. Also a separate add command for roamer and pocket.

explain this part.. do you mean as in running Quick fix specifically against the will of your team.
Or
Just running quick fix, quite a bit/full time. Because while the first one is kind of dumb/wrong as long as your own team is fine with it i see no reason for running quick fix to be frowned upon. for me personally it makes pug medic more entertaining, and i'm actually willing to medic as long as it's allowed.

@Thomas
By "IDGAF quickfixing" I meant, taking every rocket jump into the enemy team with your ubersaw out, essentially just killing yourself.
I have no problem with people actually trying to use the quickfix.

the biggest things i have noticed is having a combo that literally doesn't communicate at all, or medics that are just flat out clueless. both can ruin a game quite quickly.

These are just problems that happen with the influx of people into comp tf2. It's an issue that needs to be dealt with. I personally don't mind players worse than I but when they try to seize control of the teams or captain up to not get fatkidded, that's when people get annoyed.

On the flip side, its always fun to see players like eulogy playing their mains in tf2mix.
I've always been using #tf2mix for the past month or so. I certainly agree that some mixes are ruined by offclassing people that often don't do much, and end up dying after getting rushes. A lot of the time it's quite frustrating cause they can't get a pick anyways, therefore allowing the other team to push on your *useless* offclass.
I wasn't here for the establishment of #tf2mix, but I know that in #tf2.mix.nahl, the whole point of its creation was to help people get better. I'm assuming that in #tf2mix, the point of it is to create an area where not as seasoned people can play, but I have to say that when you have a team member that is oblivious it is annoying.
To address your point of people QF'ing: it's ridiculously irritating - especially when the medic does it for the sole purpose of fun.
Also, some of the time, people seem to just sit in IRC added up, go do something else for an hour, and then come back realizing they got picked. People can accept that, but it gets on nerves after multiple times.
Apologies for the rant but most of this is just the irritating stuff.

Why...? Sorry to seem antagonistic but it's never fun to have a really good play come in and carry their team and roll the other. Especially when it's #tf2mix.

yes this ty
To add onto that, one of the most hair-ripping things that happens once in a while is when usually two, sometimes three people that all know each other come in and play combo (most of the time pocket med) and assume that they can isolate all the other four.

I haven't really seen this for me at least. I always seem to play with the same people. I may be lucky but I don't think I've ever been in a PUG where someone intentionally tried to ruin it completely. However, I have heard from a lot of people that this stuff is happening. It's honestly pretty disappointing because the point of tf2mix for me was to escape all of the bullshit that goes on in tf2lobby, while getting better. Hopefully this doesn't last.

I was banned by grillz a while back for being a dickhead once. Not my proudest moment.

Fun to the detriment of your team is selfish, and drops the net fun.

Like when bape captains, the other team just loses. So please restrict him thanks
Boogaloo, if you wanna help you are more than welcome. We lack admins and it's a known issue. The most active admin is eulogy_, he's almost the only one doing anything. I don't mind sharing this screenshot so you guys will see how much he's doing compared to anybody else. The thing is, it's very hard to get good and active admins. I know that for a fact since I've been running PUG systems for more 3 years now.
Regarding the !add roamer / pocket thing... I want to do it (you can even see it at the bottom of the screenshot), I just didn't have the time to do it yet. I will try to do it once I get some free time.

I love #tf2mix. I, too, was not around for the "good days", and certainly I'm guilty of some of the idgaf QFing (although I do it rarely (I prefer semi-serious QFing)).
Some of it's the captain system, and troll momentum. People seem reluctant to leave mix when they have a team they like and go somewhere like tf2lobby to dick around, so they surf the captain games and guarantee they can get the same team consistently and stomp/troll. I've medic captained at times specifically to stop this, because I hate fun.
There's also been some ill-advised distribution of mumble admin in the last 2 days, which I'd reconsider. I hate seeing my pocket jerked out of mumble by some kid who thinks it's funny to dick with his friend without regard to the rest of the team that's actually playing a semi-serious game.
But... I mean, I also don't think I appreciate where the resistance to meta changes comes from. The 6s class distribution is what it is because of an optimization process that happened. If a team's running pyro to mid, show them why a scout/soldier is better. Kill them. Similarly, a team shouldn't be able to get away with spawncamping forever. Figure out a way out, even if you have to wait for respawns.
Also, it seems like, in mix, there's no punishment for leaving. If someone's seriously wasting your time, or you can't handle your team, request a sub and don't stick around.

I leave my IRC open all the time so ppl can pm me with complaints, concerns, or issues. however there are very few who go out of there way to inform me of something and link me the stats page for it to be dealt with accordingly.
so if there is an issue and no1 is around, please leave me a message and ill get to it when im on again... i work night shifts so i may miss a bit here and there since i sleep through the evening

honestly i don't see why any body would take you for being a serious admin, your judgement on things isn't of upstanding quality, you just ban people when you're angry and do w/e you want to in the mean time. If you're trying to admin acting as a role model would be the best way to positively reinforce things, but when you go rocket jumper market gardener in pugs why would others not fuck around "hay the admins doing it so why can't I"....
