If one player gets killed it's already horrible for the losing team. If two get killed it's gg and the other 4 are mop ups. I don't see a lot of fun in that.

arena is configured to scramble after a team wins 3 times in a row, i remember someone tried to make an pro lumberyard with like a 900000second respawn time, and you need to cap the cp to win. Another problem with that is if a soldier/demo are in the 1v1 and kill each other wit ha projectile.
basically it can't happen unless if valve creates some way to customize the win limit in arena
i may be wrong about all of this by the way not sure

there's a lot of things that valve has done in terms of balance which pretty clearly says "arena isn't something we're putting effort or any care at all into"

Well yes if you lose a player you probably lose the round but why not make arena 10+ rounds? You lose one round and it's not a bid deal. It's about consistency. Of course if there is no way to increase the win limit I guess it's moot.

Because then you have 10 exciting seconds at mid followed by 20 boring minutes of hide-n-seek. Ten times.

Doesn't change the fact that you know the outcome of the round after the first few seconds, which is boring.

Actually if there is an arena mode for some popular cp mids like badlands or granary wouldn't that be a great way for a team to practice their mid fights?

I'm pretty sure a mod for comp arena exists. IIRC it's called CS:GO.

I run 3v3 competitive arena with my friends a lot and we have a ton of fun. We play to 15 wins(about 30 rounds with each round taking an average of 2 minutes).

It gets pretty interesting. We banned Engineer and stopped any camping anyone would do, but maybe banning the Sentry gun entirely might be better.
