It's fine if you're in college, not so much if you still go to high school (or anything lower than that).
At Virginia Tech, gotta head back August 11th

So, I was checking to sign up (as they just recently opened) and it turns out, I can't even enroll in a course because there's a waitlist on all of the course that qualified for my degree (I need 1 course).
I just got completely screwed out of a degree, probably permanently.
FML.
Gonna go save my tuition for a new life, fuck this school.

Ouch :( Good luck with that. Try talking to higher ups, explain your situation, and you might be able to get it sorted out. Always worth a try.

Forgive my ignorance, but what kind of system would allow something like that to even happen?

A MASSIVE public school, and on a degree that has way too many students and not enough instructors, basically. Class sizes are already massive, but that's not enough, and my major is like the 3rd largest or something like that. I needed an upper division course, and at that point, there's usually only 1 course per topic.
EDIT: Also what's important is that I'm unable to (at least at the moment) enroll as a full time student otherwise I wouldn't have this problem, just the waitlist problem.
EDIT2: I was just told that I need to go through 3 stages of reviews from higher ups for my application to get CONSIDERED. ggs school I'm never coming back, not for my major.

UC Berkeley is a shithole for undergrad and its only gonna get worse if they continue to mass-enroll international students. Good thing I'm done after this semester.

My friend is an international student and she was considering them, until she called their admissions office for information and the officer there listened to half her situation before laughing and literally telling her to "fuck off". I suppose the guy could have been having a bad day but I'll be damned if it didn't colour my view of that place just a bit, heh.

It's pretty much becoming a money grab nowadays. The professors and instructors are good, but the administration's priorities are totally not in the right areas, and because of that it makes it pretty unforgiving for students.
