I just pulled up enough slack on my EC2's cord and keep it held down with a paper clip on the side of my desk.

You can use binder clips.

Clip one on the back of ur desk, then pop off the large "arms" and put small ones on (from another clip). Very sturdy and it doesn't look ridiculous on ur desk.

My desk is over an inch thick, I guess those clips won't be big enough :D

Mine is also thick. They make those clips in all sizes. I found what I needed at Walmart. I actually bought a bunch and used them for cable organization.

get an empty water bottle, fill it half way up. take mouse cord tie knot around upper lip of water bottle.

I bought a cheap mouse bungee from China for €7 not worth it, seriously just buy some good quality electrical tape and tape your mouse cord to the end of your desk.

I have holes on my stand for the monitor.

I use a couple metal grocery ties and twisted the actual mouse cable for extra slack
