While its not technically a book... The Walking Dead comics are fantastic.
As for actual books... Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, It (Stephen king)

If you don't mind non-fiction, try reading The Better Angels of our Nature. It's really long and pretty monotonous at certain points, and to be honest I'm not sure I really benefited much as a person from it (in terms of applicable knowledge). However, the concept and explanations were really fascinating and in depth.
Anything by H.G. Wells if you can stand older sounding english.
Enders game is an awesome read so is World War Z i just finished reading that
Brave New World, Cat's Cradle, The Hobbit. Will post more when I think of it.
EDIT: How did I forget Hitchhiker's Guide to the galaxy. It's a fantastic book.

Kurt Vonnegut, Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams, Tom Holt, and Terry Goodkind. All great authors.
Just finished Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami, really worth the read, probably going to pick up more of his stuff.
Game of Thrones is pretty good too, plus they are a good time sink. Alternatively Wheel of Time.

The Stand is my favorite book all time, by far.

Right now I'm reading Hyperion by Dan Simmons and it's fantastic so far.
Backpacking on ender's game, and hunger games was pretty nice as well
also I just finished reading Taipei by Tao Lin, which is a really great read as well.
Just finished The Road by Cormac McCarthy, the author of No Country for Old Men and Blood Meridian. It was pretty good, he's got a cool style, but the story itself is a bit depressing. Currently reading through a bunch of Sherlock Holmes mysteries, all of which have been enjoyable so far and pretty light reading that you don't have to commit much time to, the copy I got on my kindle was free as well since it was out of copyright.
The Fall and The Stranger by Albert Camus. My favorite 2 books of all time.
The Pendragon series was good, it's been a while
since I read those though. Also The Messenger is just about my all time favorite book. It's pretty serious, but I really enjoyed it.
