My name is Kenneth Anderson.
I used to go by "NeonUltima" when I played on Pokemon NetBattle back in 2004. If I remember correctly, I chose this because I was a fan of neon colors and Ultima was my favorite move from the Final Fantasy series.
When I first started playing TF2 in '07, I kept going with this name until a day when I was pubbing and ran into YouMustRecover. For some silly reason I assumed his name was a command to the players on his team so I went medic and changed my name to "YouMustDestroy". He introduced me to competitive TF2 soon after and little did I know, having similar names with someone who was even relatively known was a problem. And now any time dchow tries to say something insulting, he brings this up.
So then I had to change my name and seeing as Kirby 64 is one of my favorite games ever, I decided to be unoriginal and name myself Kirby.

I was actually sitting at my desk trying to think of a username when I first got steam, and I'll never forget as when that was happening my mum was walking to the lounge and slipped over some water that had obviously been spilt there earlier. After the horrendous yelp that followed as she tumbled to the ground, the word 'slide' hit my head instantly, and I guess it stuck.
Playing Starcraft back in 1997, I used 'D@rk@Lien' as I was pimp.
When I was 15/16 I thought I'd come up with a new name that was a little cooler and while typing out random ideas I thought of AcidRemiX. I missed the M key and hit N and figured that it would be more unique as AcidReniX.
Around 4-5 years ago, I got frustrated with having to introduce myself at LAN events as AcidReniX as it sounded like such a childish name (it is). I decided to shorten it to the capital letters ARX (spoken as individual letters) as it sounded more mature, but people on mumble saw my name and simply called me Arx. It rolled off the tongue easier so I just went with it.

because im chinese and im always stoned.
When I first started playing TF2 in 2009, I had a shitty laptop that had a shitty mic. Whenever I tried to talk in the game, my clan mates said I sounded like a goldfish in a bowl. I took the name goldfish, then shortened it to Goldy when i started playing comp. tf2 :D
SeaGrave is a name i got through battlefield...
i shot down helis and jets in bf2,bc1&2 and bf3 with my rpg and most of the time the wreck landed in the water and people started calling me seagrave

i started saying words and liked the way shizno sounded, holy came 2 weeks later
i made shitty videos when i was 8. i wanted to make a character to represent me in the videos.
i tried drawing a head on yellow paper but it turned out REALLY oval-y. i x'ed it out and then realized i liked its look. since it was oval-y and on yellow paper i decided to go with the alias lemon.

My neighbors grow blueberries. I steal them. I got caught. I'm a villain.
Fatmop: My brother caught a chocobo one day in FF7 and didn't feel like wasting time on naming it, so he twirled the analog stick and mashed O on the keyboard screen. Fatmop came out. We had a good laugh and then I used it for my AIM screen name.

My current name, wobbz, is kinda stolen from my favorite player in competitive gaming for years now, Wobbles (from SSBM).
He writes this great blog (http://www.compete-complete.com/) that I've been following for a long time, and it has really changed my mindset about competition in general. I'm not even the biggest fan of SSBM, but some of the stuff he says is really inspirational, and I make sure to always watch his games whenever possible.
I changed my name to honor him for his great showing at EVO 2013 a few months ago, where he got 2nd place. As it turns out, that was his last tournament. I'll miss watching his games ;__;

WarmTurtle started as my name in League. The story behind it is kinda cool, a bit long so bear with me.
In early 2011 players with "Riot" in their names had their names changed to "warmturtle<misc. numbers>". The alias I went by at the time was "RiotPirate" and having no idea who made League when I started playing, I saw no reason not to use it again.
Shortly after that said players were offered a free name change. I had gone back and fourth with an account specialist trying to find a name I liked that wasn't already taken. Finally I sent him a list and asked him to use whichever one off of it was available.
This is the reply I got:
Rivington, Mar-27 15:46 (PDT):
Hello Sasha,
The first name that worked in our database was WarmTurtle. Since no one was given this name during the name change you are now the official WarmTurtle.
Sincerely,
Rivington

I guess that's where the legendary warmturtle534 came from too...

Haha stealing and modifying names is the best way to get names.
Before I was WarmTurtle I was Soldat. I took the name from a friend when I moved countries (figured he'd never find out).
After a while it mutated and became Solt.

I was reading up about the discovery of various elements and learned about the work of the Curie family (Marie Curie is the one they jammed down our throats at school). After reading about their discovery of the element Ra (radium), I found out that its Atomic Number was 88. I was born in the fall of '88. I figured that it was a match made in heaven. I sometimes post on twitch as radium212, which is an isotope of the aforementioned element.
cjc is the same forwards and backwords

WarmTurtle - I never had anything like that happen, but I do tend to reuse good names I see other people with in MMOs. I've lifted player names from MMOs like "Florent Stark" for D&D characters. For the past couple years, I've also been on a kick of naming video game characters after comics, so in EVE I'm "Farmstink," flying ships like the "Pooplord" and "Hella Jeff."
Cjc4653It's my initials spelled backwards.

Started playing Runescape back in like '05, picked the name 'Deatheagle90' cause I was an immature kid back then and found it funny that my name was kinda 'an eagle of death'. When I got in comp tf2 a lot of people were putting yyy at the end of their name and I'm dumb so I wanted to copy them but Deatheaglyyy sounded stupid so I switched it for Deathy.
It's a bridge reference. Figured I'd reference the game I originally played semi-competitively...
When I started playing I went by THUNDERCUNT. But CAL and GXL weren't too pleased with that name. So I had to change it.
I thought Carl Caliente sounded funny. But you have to be cool and shorten it. So Carl.
