Bakemono was enjoyable because I'm a huge faggot for well executed dialogue and shaft's animation in decent measure. Nise was kind of a let down since it felt scatterbrained and more attention was paid to shaftservice than any sort of discernible plot progression. Kagenui and Kaiki are gr8 characters though, even if the ending of Nise was a huge let down.
Blame the author. It's quite faithful to the book. Especially the toothbrush scene.
Nekomonogatari was much more eventful though, despite only having 5.5 significant characters (6.5 total with karen).

Well actually, it's not more events, just a higher concentration of happenings. It's honestly really short, but it feels like everything is plot relevant.
Seeing Hoshi as an anime would be weird though. Sengoku youko would make more sense, althouh Hoshi's story is better. I don't know ><
