Why? What's so bad about it? If you don't say what's bad about it, then there's no way it can ever improve.
That said, voted to kick out Gpit. l8r

In all honesty edifice wouldn't be a terrible replacement. Imo it's superior to gpit for 6s in several ways, but we'd still have the problem of only having one a/d map and absolutely no one wanting to scrim it outside of the week that it's played.

Can someone articulate what exactly they feel is wrong with gravelpit? I don't understand the general dislike of the map; I'm excited to play it every season and it often makes for ridiculously intense/close games.

imo gpit is just boring and hard to push and a nuisance to defend

grillzno alternatives, keep maps the same
there are "alternatives".
mainly being koth_coalplant/ashville.
of course there's koth_canopy or cp_quay or cp_derecho or (god forbid!) cp_edifice but to hell with that if my maps get voted in without any testing prior.
although, canopy WAS tested by teams a few times though so that could work, but i'm biased so it's all up to you guys, really.
start testing new maps somehow, there's a lot of potential replacements that just need better testing.
just think before you replace.

Just so you know, map votes last 24 hours each, one right after the other. So no time to test maps.

double heavy was the issue, not singular heavy.
besides heavy and engie are already played on every last it wouldnt make a difference.

Sniper on mid was also a problem and there's no way that's changed.

considering gpit will most likely be out, what maps should we expect in the rotation?
asheville? coalplant? warmfront?

Coalplant is probably the most likely map, as it's been tested a lot. Also it's essentially koth_ashville's layout + cp_ashville's artistic design from what I've heard, so that should help.
Other potential maps are cp_quay, cp_edifice, koth_canopy, cp_derecho, and old maps.

Wouldn't go that far. It's basically a road course in the middle of a bunch of ovals on the schedule, now if there was two or three on the schedule to make it worthwhile to scrim then it's all good. As it stands, no real reason to scrim it since it NEVER pops up in the playoffs.

Yup.
The reason gpit has the majority of the votes is because the majority of the teams don't know how to play gpit.

still, I thought it to be a staple of comp tf2
It's an actual change from the same old cp_ shit that EVERYONE does. It was actually exciting to watch because, not gonna lie, when you see the same 5cp strats used in every single game the different stuff that happened in gpit was hella fun to see go down.

we're getting rid of some of the best and unique shit to watch in tf2

cp_gravelpit was a rite of passage for many Open teams - it taught us as players to push as a unit and synchronize bombs with other actions across the map. These principles (among others you learn when scrimming and playing matches on the map) apply in all aspects of TF2.
We all hated the map for our own little reasons, but we sucked it up as a community and worked through it. It was a tough team-building exercise for new teams - regardless of skill level.
I think that we're cheating newer players of the cp_gravelpit experience. It's a not a fun one, but I find that it's very important and can tell you a LOT about your team.
Want to think you're bigger than everyone else in the server? Enjoy that 12-9-25 k/d ratio, and have a nice day with that 0-2 loss to a team you think you're "better than".

Its pretty ridiculous that I need to pay for another month of premium just to vote on next season's map rotation. Couldn't you have made the vote a little later and go by people who payed their league fees instead?

Gravelpit will stay in map pool (their is no good replacement for gravelpit yet).

The thing about a later vote is that teams won't know what maps they'll be practicing until it's done

I'd like to see two attack defense maps in the rotation, Gpit and something else, potentially Edifice, although Edifice needs some work. The format has always been interesting, and allows for teams with weaker dm to show their other strengths. I can still remember a match on Gpit where Vector won against all odds, their only win of the season, but it was an incredible match.
