It's on sale right now for like 6 bucks, is the game any good? I heard a lot of people talk about it like over a year ago,(I also remember hearing several tf2 players were supposedly going to play it competitively and drop comp tf2)but I haven't heard much since then.
I played it a little bit and it seemed fun - you could cloak up as monsters and walk on the ceiling and all. If you find some friends for it it'd probably be worth 6 bucks, but I don't think the competitive side every really went any where.
Its pretty fun once you get the hang of it... I would play it a lot more if my pc got better fps on it.
It's a really interesting blend of RTS and FPS. The FPS elements remind me of the old AvP games.
I'd suggest getting it. It's a lot of fun.

The game is awesome, i used to play Natural Selection 1 when it was popular back in the day, and this one is even better.
IMO the best part about it is that like 75% of the people that play always have microphones so its a really good team based game to get

I liked the first NS better. Though for now it's 90% because my computer can't even handle it anyways.
there's been a bunch of performance updates recently, but the last one pretty bad. you have to do all these workarounds to get the input lag to disappear.
i am able to hold a 100+ FPS in fights, though

My tribes friends and I went to NS2 after T:A got the shaft from Hi-Rez. One of us had ~124 hours before calling it quits (I had 66). It was fun for a while but 60+% alien win rate was dumb and the gameplay became not interesting very quickly. The community is either incredibly cool and friendly or completely retarded and anal-retentive about every last team detail from game to game.
I remember watching that one comp tournament that was played with the shazbots. God that was awful - I though yukon last stalemates were bad but competitive play brought rapid win or painfully slow loss to a whole other level.

There was a balance update recently that buffed the Marines. Now they actually can win.

It's fun to pub. Nowhere near as fun or skill based as the original NS though. You also need a really good computer since performance in that game is absolute shit.

give this a shot, it's night and day changes in performance. think when you first played on your brand new 120hz monitor, it's like that.
NS2 never felt smooth to me, even with 100+ FPS. not only does that fix give me an extra 40fps, but it makes the game responsive and shit, it's great.
however, it does come with some bugs. for example, you can't alt-tab. sometimes when you launch the game, you need to close the process and start it again. i don't mind all too much, though.

Is this only for crossfire/SLI? I'm only using one video card
Edit: Nevermind I should've read the whole entire thread first

the patch last night implemented this into the game, so you no longer need to use the .dll
Its fun and fast. There have been issues with performance and balance but they get better every patch. Plus the devs actually care about the game (unlike HiRez), so a lot of what they implement is what is requested by the community. They even recently added a global ranking system so you can keep track of your total points and "skill".
streaming it if you're interested in watching gameplay. despite my high frames, the game doesn't feel 'smooth' when streaming so i'm playing alien mostly.

Easily worth the money, but not the game the NS1 community had hoped for :S
Still fun on pubs and frequently patched since release.

ahaha i was playing with pyro just earlier while my friend and I battle gorged. we kept making jokes about his name because he seemed to just w+m1 into us suiciding with the hope for a kill. :p
NS2's engine is a piece of crap.
Would be a good game otherwise.... if they had just used UDK or source.
