See a family member's installed game that you want to play? Send them a request to authorize the computer. Once authorized, the lender's library of Steam games become available for others on the machine to access, download and play.
awesome

Only thing that sucks is that only one could be played at the same time. But then again nothing was talked about offline mode in this

do you often play the same single-player game as your brother on the same computer at the same time

What do you mean, I am talking about different computers. I dont get the - frags either, unless I hugely misinterpreted this whole steam sharing thing, but this is what I got from what I read.

What you're suggesting is that people should be able to give away free copies of a game. Game devs/steam would be completely screwed, they would effectively be selling 10 copies for the price of one.

Nah, I wasn't suggesting that. hell I haven't pirated a game since I moved to steam 3-4 years ago. I was thinking something more in the lines of what some MMOs or starcraft have that let you play with a friend that hasn't bought the game

If you have your account authorized on a computer, anyone will be able to play your games with this. At least, that's how I understand it.

Only a developer can do that, not sure how you think Steam could actually do that for every game.

Well like they made a timer for when the original owner starts playing they could make an extended timer that would support every game to try it out with a friend, just thinking out loud
