yes and no. there's not a lot of gain from using it (for tf2) unless you have 20 binds that you want close to the left side of your hand.
I use it for quake, but not tf2. It's pretty advantageous for quake since there's a lot of weapon binds you'll need at any given point.
It's all preference. It's really all based on muscle memory.
I've used esdf for a while now and have really liked it. It's super nice to be able to bind weapons to keys you can hit with your pinky so you don't have to take fingers off the movement keys when switching. The major downside is having to bind esdf for movement in every single other game you play so it doesn't feel odd (or just get used to switching between esdf and wasd).
Every bind I've needed in any game I can reach easily with WASD, so I chose to keep with the norm
I tried it but I don't like new things so I switched back
I have to use esdf because my w key only works like 20% of the time... :>>

I don't feel like it's needed for TF2. Most of time you only need 3 weapons. You can bind two main weapons to mouse up and down, then melee to side and you're golden.

Yes i still use ESDF i pretty much use it in every game i play :)
I use ESDF simply because I found having ctrl bound to crouch annoying for rocket-jumping. So these days I use ESDF with A for crouch.
Also, like TviQ, I rebind any game I play to ESDF if possible.
