I find it funny that you're bringing age into this, since I immediately know of a couple LAN invite regulars who are in the same position as you, age and career wise.

I have a 730-530 minimum land developmenteengineering job, am celebrating one year with my current gf this weekend, have projects and people under my direct supervision and its really not hard to go to lan. Take an 8 o'clock flight friday night, play Saturday and Sunday and fly back sunday night, no pto needed. I currently play probably less than I should because my weekends are typically booked, but I'd say I put somewhere from 8-12 hours into tf2 in a given week. I suppose as soon as that becomes too overwhelming I could quit... But I'deasily watch tTV for that amount of time each week so I'm not sure I could find a real enough reason to quit unless I just stopped enjoying the game.
