I'm a high school Junior, and I'm needing a simple laptop to do my work and etc. No TF2, just documents, and browsing the web. I was attracted by the price and the design, but I just want to get other opinions.
Should I get one? Also, does anyone own one and how is it?

I think you would do well to look at some of the 'baytrail' systems that are coming out (baytrail is intel's new entry level silicon...think of it as a non-sucky atom). 200-400 dollar very portable systems (some can function as 2 in 1's like the asus t100) that run full windows 8.1. Some of them even come with full microsoft office for students for those low price points. The nice thing is all normal windows software would work on it, so if some classes have software programs that need windows you would be able to run them. With a chromebook that would not be the case.
I think the Dell venue comes with a stylus as well that could be good for notetaking...but don't know if it's any good.

I currently use the Samsung Chromebook for college. I use my desktop for resource-heavy applications and gaming, and use the chromebook to take notes, do some basic assignments, and web browsing. So far, it's been perfect. Only complaints I have are the ability to use some Windows based programs, but other than that it should function for you just fine. Google Docs is a pretty decent substitute for Microsoft Office, so you shouldn't have any problems there. Plus they're incredibly light and have long battery life. Usually mine lasts about 8-12 hours without having to charge it. Just make sure you realize what you can and cannot do with a Chromebook.

Your in luck that is exactly what a chromebook is for get one! I don't have one myself but I've used one a couple times and its great.

If you know what it's good and bad at then I'd say go for it. I really like them. Been messing around with them lately since we're about to deploy some pilots to see if our district likes them. I put Chromium on my netbook last night and even that worked pretty well. I was already a pretty heavy Google/Android guy though.

Chromebooks will do what you described very well and consistently. The Acer C720 is currently the only Chromebook worth your money.
