FoghookyFog, while I don't disagree with your decision, it seems like you just decided to move the channel without the community's input. For something as community-based as pug.na, that should have been done.
I agree with you with asking the community's opinion first before just moving it over.
It was a huge mistake on my part, not asking the community's opinion on the move. However, I will remain committed to making this transition work
EDIT: submitted this too early, added on the rest of what I wanted to say.
The community apparently doesn't want it to work. In fact, it was working perfectly before on the client end.

wait so #TF2.mix.nahl and #TF2.pug.na are the only ones on geeksirc?

Currently, yes. Last I heard, however, #tf2.pug.nahl is going to be moving to GeeksIRC. #tf2mix and #tf2scrim are moving to Quakenet in an attempt to unify NA and EU pugs.

FogRestrictions:
All current restrictions will be transfered over between networks. If you're restricted on Gamesurge currently, you'll also be restricted on GeeksIRC for the remainder of your restriction duration.
Bans:
All current channel bans will NOT be transfered over between networks. HOWEVER, do not expect this to last long during the migration period after the move.

If you agree that this should have been a community decision why not see if that's what the community actually wants before you 'remain committed'? I doubt it's too late to switch back to Gamesurge, and, if not, switching to quakenet is definitely still a possibility, right? If people prefer that why not do that instead? Maybe I underestimate how much work this is for you, though, I have no clue how much you have to do. Although, if the work is too much I'm sure there are people willing to help you out...

I believe the problem with quakenet is that the bot would have to be rewritten for it, which would take quite a bit of time.
To be honest, I don't think the community wants to move away from Gamesurge at all.

It seems like most people already switched over though? Took like 5 minutes to register.

There weren't any inactive screens. The sub bots were using the listen, send, and sub screens and all were taken offline and disconnected from the channel.

If anyone wants yet another option for an IRC client, there's irc.lc. It's web-based and convenient to switch between channels.
irc.lc/<server>/<channel>/<nick>
Pug.na: http://irc.lc/geeksirc/tf2.pug.na/genericnick
Pug.nahl: http://irc.lc/gamesurge/tf2.pug.nahl/genericnick
and etc.

FYI, A step ahead of you. http://webchat.geeksirc.net/(channel)
Example: http://webchat.geeksirc.net/tf2.pug.na
Left Icon = Mibbit, Center Icon = KiwiIRC, Right Icon = qWebIRC
All load balanced between the nodes that they have.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My views on Fog & jaybenaduchi.
If Jay really did kill the screens (thus killing the bots), that is a low blow to do. If Fog wants to move it to a separate VPS or server, I wouldn't fault him for that.
Anyways, what's done is done and it's time to move on.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just so I can offer my .02 on the GameSurge and GeeksIRC move. The services and IRCd that GeeksIRC runs is more modern. However the bots that run in the many TF2 channels on both of those networks are compatible with either network with just a few code changes, on the other hand, with QuakeNet the bot would just have to interface with Q.
The bot that runs in #tf2.mix.nahl, #tf2.mix.euhl and #tf2.mix.eu is the one that got recreated by blindsight and I, it runs better then the current bots around. It uses the Atheme services that GeeksIRC provides so it can manage the channel better. Let alone the fact that it can switch between 6's and highlander on-the-fly and different game modes.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now to ask a question for everyone. What does GameSurge have that GeeksIRC does not?

Why are you talking in the 3rd person? You are Ryan, aka th1 aka techhelper1.

There were no problems with the old bot, I don't see why the move was absolutely needed. The pug.nahl bot still works perfectly fine when it's used (rip). Apart from IP masking (which took about 5 minutes to get a vhost), there are no real benefits to moving networks (except giving all our IPs to blindsight).

The old bot is beyond borked. The database runs slow as hell (takes about 4 seconds on a good day to add), sometimes it decides not to add at all, it randomly locks up sometimes, it's not being supported any longer (seriously, what happened to dad?), gamesurge for some reason has a weird system where if it detects the same response (ping/pong) in a consecutive pattern it just times out the connection. (why, I have no idea) Considering that 70% of the people in PuG also plays mix, them "moving" should not have much bearing on the channel. In fact, it may even give it a good kick to get it started. For a while pug.na took forever to get going, and now there are literally 7 - 10 games a day. I realize 6s is way easier to start than a HL PuG, but with the interest of the new bot, new channel, new network ( which, as stated will be familiar territory to mixers that play in pug) it may give the boost pug needs to get back to its old self.

Issues With The Old Bot:
The pug.nahl had bad calculations when it came to the !need command so it would start bad pickings.
The database structure of that bot was done so horrid and took TOO MANY queries just to get a persons stats. (Let alone any other database related function.)
The database was so huge because it saved every single game, team, player, what they added as and what they got pick for, let alone the team. (When you start the next round, that crap does not matter anymore.)
The bot needed 3 messengers because of GameSurge's flooding problems.
It does not have a finer control of what admin privileges certain levels of op can do. Which partially has to do with why GeeksIRC has half-op, op, administrator and founder.
Depending on what it was doing it took 3-12 seconds for it to respond. (Which is sad because this bot supposedly multithreads.)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To answer your complaint about blindsight just getting IP's, I can do just the same by /WHOIS'ing someone on GameSurge who isn't logged in.
You do realize that there are other IRCop's besides blindsight, he will not do anything unless he has a valid reason.
Besides GeeksIRC offers cloaking "IP masking" of the IP address or the important part of the hostmask AUTOMATICALLY ON CONNECT, BEFORE they are logged into NickServ.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ever since the move #tf2.pug.na has started rounds left and right, does not need messenger bots, does not need to be throttled back and more importantly, it runs faster.
