prize pot l0l. it's like $35 to pay for premium and league fees and $60 per player if you win last I checked. Not a bigger prize pot.

As someone who played and got moved up to IM last season I can confirm that playing in open is not really an experience as people claim it is. Pretty much anyone with a couple braincells and decent aim can be moved up to Intermediate with a somewhat coordinated team.

There is no prestige in playing in esea, and paying simply to be competing in a league that charges more because of it's "established business status & industry leading cheat client" doesn't really make sense to me. play cevo.

I remember a year ago looking at players who are now in invite (who were in intermediate at the time) thinking wo, I wish I could be as good as them. Now the status of IM and open have gone done so much that even players who are pretty bad can be playing in IM. Sure not on a good team, but they'll still be in the division. Most of the matches I've watched this season have been rolls one way or another carried by 1 or two players, so i'm not sure about this better competition.

At the end of the day, most of your playing experience will come from scrims, where you will be scrimming teams of around your caliber. (If you actually care about getting better and you scrim) So I've never really understood why you would pay more to play in matches with relatively the same outcomes. There are good teams in CEVO, just like there were good teams carried by a couple players in ESEA OPEN this season (budsquad, quantum flux). The finals of esea open were matches carried by a couple of invite players playing their mains in open. So better competition? I'm not sure.

So CEVO will have teams that don't 5-0 each other or have teams with individual carries?

No but at least u dont have to pay $35 dollars to get rolled while running a malware client.

$15 is a much easier investment then paying $35 for each player. Especially players who don't know their teammates very well and might have to deal with the team dying mid season.

We are most likely doing both ESEA and Cevo. I dont see why most teams cannot both. Just get backups to fill in when others will be busy.

As for the death of tf2, I highly doubt that seeing the amount of teams that want players and the people LFT.

Maybe there should be some community events to get more people active again. (besides tip of the hats, invite only events/zowie/etc, maybe some weekend tournaments like we talked about in the past.) Who knows, maybe I can look into that if there is still interest in that sort of thing.

for some it's not availability but it's the cash, people don't have the money to play both leagues

There's no real choice for one league over the other. Both offer pretty much the same thing...I wish people could do both but I know that's not an option for some. Let the people decide where they want to go! TF2 is only alive because of the great community we have, and if that community wants majority in ESEA or CEVO, then so be it.

Not much we can do besides just sit and wait to see who signs up. I, for one, think it's way too early for ESEA to start another season. It would be wise for them to wait a bit. The Off-season needs time damnit!

Supercell, why complain about the rolls in ESEA (where there are 4 divs) when Cevo will have more rolls because of the wider level of skill (2 divs).

Mr_OwlLennonWhy would anyone starting in open choose esea over cevo? Better prize pot

Pretty weak incentive for a team just starting to play TF2. It's very unlikely they'll see a dime.

Mr_OwlMore established organization

So far, CEVO has proven to be very responsive and open to community suggestions.

Mr_OwlBetter tiers of competition

This is one of the big benefits ESEA is bringing, and I've been trying to talk Pipher into opening up another div. It depends on how many players are actually interested in CEVO.

Mr_OwlWhy would anyone starting out in open choose cevo over esea? Do both.

You can pay less money for a similar level of competition and service to play in CEVO, and while playing in both leagues would be cool, not everyone wants to drop a ton of money on the game.

Topic: Move-ups in ESEA

Can you dipshits even read?
I mean, I get it, you REALLY want that b- you got in high school to be rectified with validation on the internet. But nobody gives a fuck about what league you prefer in this thread. Please, take your soapbox to the shower and bend over.
