Not necessary for pizza, but for any service that asks for a tip, I ALWAYS do 15%, even if the service wasn't that great

I used to work at a Dunkin Donuts when I was in HS. Tips are what made the job worth the time - and that job actually broke minimum wage before tips. Not all service sector jobs do such a thing.
During my time, I saw people kind enough to order a $2.20 coffee and tip $2.80 since I prepared it fast and got it right (she handed a $5 and just said, "take it"). I remembered shit like that - and you can bet that the people serving you do as well.
As for respect, I highly respect any service worker that is considerate and puts in a legit effort.

I really don't understand this concept of tipping for the sake of tipping. I only tip if the service has been of a very high level, if it has then i'll tip. If the service has been dreadful, i leave them a few pennies to make my point. People should never expect a tip if they've done a shitty job.
$5 minimum. If service is really good, I might go $6.

Yeah i'm that guy. If the waiter/taxi driver/delivery person has been a prick them i'll let them know. Nothing says you're shit at your job like 4p in change.

Some service people get a sense of entitlement on getting a tip even if they do an outright shitty job, don't be one of those people. I've only zeroed a few service folks in like 10 years, but they 'earned' it.

what do service people (for example waiters) get paid there? cause in the U.S. it's usually around half of minimum wage if im not mistaken

My roommate in college worked as a delivery driver for Domino's for 3 years. I believe his base wage was barely $2 at the time (late 90's/early 2000). He was told from his boss for every $10 order you should expect a $3 tip from the customer (as long as you are on time and nothing happens to the food).
The surrounding area's from our school he use to deliver to were mostly high class - he almost always got 1 dollar tips from those people, even for $20 + orders. He always said the people that were the best tippers were the more average/middle class people he delivered to.

For any type of food service I typically will take 20 percent and round up to the nearest dollar, because they probably need that little extra more than I do

Minimum wage, pretty sure you can't earn less than minimum wage in a legal job in the UK. For reference, minimum wage in the UK is currently £6.31 per hour which is $10.50 US.

I deliver pizzas for the place I work at and sometimes get asked "how much should I tip, if I'm going to tip?" I should also note that where I work I get paid minimum wage ($9.10/hr), $1.25 per delivery (half the delivery fee), and I do not pool my tips with the tips my coworkers receive in store.
The best way to answer this isn't the most straightforward compared to how you would go about it for a restaurant.
The way I like to think about it is:
- How far away from the establishment do you live?
- Did you order during traffic hour or near closing time?
- Where do you live (on a giant fucking hill, near a bunch of construction, something else inconvenient)?
- Is your address in an easy to find place/is your house labeled at all (I've encountered far too many houses with little or no labeling, especially in places that can be actually seen)?
- Was I there in the timeframe you were given, maybe even earlier?
- Was I, in some shape or form, nice to you, engaging, or what-have-you?
Then from there, use your own personal judgment on what is fair (whatever you want to determine to be awful, poor, passable, good, great, above-and-beyond, then assign some value to it) to tip.

This is sometimes true; however, the people that will also tip the most are those same people. I think I average around $3-$4 per delivery and we have a $25 order minimum on deliveries, unless the person taking the order asks me if a smaller order is okay, which I'm usually fine with. I had a delivery last Saturday that was 5 pizzas ($78 order) and I was given a $20 bill as a tip. The place was very near our establishment as well as a very large house in a nice area. Earlier that same day I delivered two pizzas, a salad, and some chicken wings to a house in a less nice part of town and the woman that lived there gave me $12. It's almost bizarre how hard it is to pin a type of people to how they'll tip, because many are anomalous.

How would a delivery person give "very high" service? If someone doesnt tip me or just rounds up to the dollar, I am not thinking "oh I must have done a bad job". I'm thinking "wow, this fucker is cheap".

What Dave said. Typically you'll make Min wage, then tips on top if you do a good job.
I don't know what place he works for, but any chain place will give you as little as possible. I make 5.70/hr + .79$ per delivery, since we are tipped and pretty much heavily rely on tips to get by.

Since tipping isn't really done here in the UK, you'd have to do something really exceptional to get a tip.
