I was playing in a tryout scrim with him when two different people messaged me and told me he was triggerbotting. I called him out, and he said he had no idea what a triggerbot is, then he shut off his stream, I guess.

Why would you need a hitsound if you use a triggerbot?

I remember a lot of hacking controversies in this community, particularly the wire frame analysis of Powah a while back. And while it seems pretty obvious this guy is not legit, hitting literally all but one shots of the parts I saw, I still struggle identifying certain movement or aim patterns that indicate hacking. So normally I keep my mouth shut because I don't know if what I think is a hacker is just put into my mind from the outside, or because it genuinely looks fishy. Anyone have resources for identifying exactly how hackers' behaviours differ from good players who can land flick shots?

You can generally tell fairly easily when their movement, positioning and decision making are absolute garbage but they never miss.

On a side note he's banned from the new MGE iT.

It's merely just applying experience with cheats and visual and spatial recognition of realistic motor movements players commonly produce with a mouse. The consistent high damage shots with the only aiming pattern of avoiding aiming at targets at a long distance is usually a dead giveaway for a triggerbot, as well as the inhuman reflexes of shooting when the first pixel of a player touches his crosshair. The consistency of his shots is something you'd see from the most experienced veterans. Even then, the players you can watch to see it firsthand are playing against people who know how to dodge properly, making this extremely difficult to keep up in a normal setting.

Using some information from his profile, he has about 120 hours on TF2 ever and he's making clockwork look weak. Either an alt, a curious CPMA/Quake pro, or a cheater. The only time you can give the player benefit of the doubt when under suspicion of cheating is when he/she has tenure in the community. Otherwise, the math doesn't add up and the information doesn't support the hypothesis that the suspect is just a new breed of super-sayian player. To get a better idea of how to identify a cheat (and if you're feeling dirty) I recommend making an alt account, creating a private server and record a demo of yourself experimenting with the hack to see what it looks like from a first person perspective, and how it differs from manual control versus artificial control. There's quite a few subtle, unexplainable differences, but those apply really only to outdated, rubbish pieces of software. The better ones have become more life-like, but either way, above all, you can't fake a real pattern authentically for long time without being both a good player, and a dirty cheating assbutt. But you can see why it's illogical and a rare occurrence for somebody to keep up the act for longer than a year in a moderate sized community.
