What happened to all of the esea tf2 pugs? I've recently subscribed to premium and all I see is counter-strike stuff. Is esea only about counter-strike? I just want to play tf2, but I don't want to go back to the sandbagging community of UGC. I've had some not-fun experiences there.
esea pugs i dont think really have ever been a thing
If you want to play esea tf2 you have to play for a team. TF2 pugs haven't been a thing on ESEA for a long time, and if all you want to do is pug there's plenty of free alternatives like pug.na or mix. Or inhouses if you know people I guess.
i remember watching tyrone play esea tf2 pugs like it was yesterday
TF2 players don't use ESEA pugs because:
- Lots of players don't sign up for ESEA
- There are free, superior pug services that only discriminate in terms of technical competence rather than membership
- The top tier of TF2 is so small that restricting pugs it plays to a single service is suicide
- Setting up a TF2 server properly is very very easy
- Being an ESEA service occasionally attracts CS players that don't know the first thing about TF2 and ruin pugs by being bad
- ESEA has mindless restrictions from CSS that shouldn't apply to TF2 (i.e. banning programs that change texture LOD), while the alternative pug services don't
Because TF2 players only use a ridiculously small subset of ESEA services, ESEA doesn't support the community, which works shit out on its own. TF2 lives on tftv, etf2l, and other community-organized forums and services; ESEA is treated as the place where that one big contest is held for just one of the three or four major regions, because it's the only service it offers that's worthwhile for TF2.

back in esea s2 we would have frequent pugs. Not the greatest in quality. however, Esea would host "play vs the pros pugs" and invite members like oplaid used to participate a lot. Cinq had made some significant improvements to the IRC pugging channel when we moved from tf2.gather.us to tf2.pug.na. Just one of the reasons why Esea pugs never took off. Some time later Cinq went to torbull and asked about making some improvements to the Esea pugging system. Some changes happened. One of the major ones was some monthly prizes including free premium for medic players. After all these changes ppl still didnt play pugs.
remember when esea servers weren't complete utter shit
because I sure don't
