So I was reading the "Mike Left Epsilon?" Thread and this caught my eye:
NebulaYo can we legit get a TF2 hall of fame? It would be a pretty cool way to look at classic players like reptile, darn, and carnage, all the way up to more recent legends like numlocked and mike. I think it would be a cool addition to Tf.Tv if someone was willing to put time into it.
I've only been around for a year or two and am only familiar with those that played the classes I play, so feel free to help. Just tell me the player name and the class they played.
I thought it was an interesting idea, so why not? Also, should newer players be in here too?
Current Hall-of-Famers:
Scouts: Carnage, Yz50, Justin, Stefan, Oplaid, dabes, Clockwork, Cyzer, Enigma, Squid, Ruwin, Bloodsire, Alfa, Gglygly, wltrs,
Soldiers: Relic, Reptile, Jaeger, Tyrone, Mackey, Darn, Wonderwall, Dave_AC, TLR, A_Seagull, Lange, Yuki, Sheep, GeaR, Jukebox, Fragga, Taggerung, Blaze,
Demomen: SolidSnake, dummy, Numlocked, Rebeli, Termo, kaidus, b4nny, ryb
Medics: Pyyyour, Shade, CB, Harbleu,

You can't list soldiers without Dave_AC on there

Could have another tab at the top, with a frag video under each persons name and a picture of them or something idk.

Can we merge the two
LangePerhaps you could use this as an excuse to flesh out the data on Comp.tf?
I don't understand what you mean. (Not the sharpest tool in the shed.)

Would love to have some collaboration on this, if not for a hall of fame, at least updating and creating player pages. I think having extensively catalogued and documented players from all the scenes and eras is a bit better than a "hall of fame" sort of thing
We have player and team pages already but they're not really fleshed out in terms of content and not very consistently updated.
Take for example:
http://comp.tf/wiki/Numlocked
Compare it to a semi popular dota 2 player page on liquipedia
http://wiki.teamliquid.net/dota2/DeMoN

I was basing it off of players that used to play but quit, but since since you're likely not the last to suggest a current player, I decided to just do them all.
Question to all: If a player was on more than one class, should I put them on for all their classes, or the one they were known most for?

From the context of the first post (see: "Current Hall-of-Famers"), I would make this something a lot more official than just some guy who edits his first post.
Casey should be in there, and CB should not. Or at least Casey should be in there way before CB.

How about this:

Feel free to nominate 5 10 people you think belong in the TF2 Hall of Fame.
I'll leave this up for a week, and, if it gets good traffic, I'll compile and tally all the responses, make a cutoff and vote on the top 10-20% or so.
Edit:
Changed it from 5 to 10 nominations per person

I think that, in order to have a "proper" HoF, it might be advisable to put restrictions on what players can be inducted. Most people will automatically think of players who are currently playing to induct, but a Hall of Fame should focus more on past players who have made a great impact on the game, and the way that it is often done is by requiring nominated players to have been retired for a certain amount of time before they are eligible for consideration. Something like 3 seasons or so.

Great idea. I'll add a question about it.

Well if you want to be technical about it, its a hall of FAME not necessarily a hall of skill. So outstanding community members such as tyrone, or lange could make it in, even if nobody particularly thinks they're one of the best to ever play the game.

This should be done officially, not half-assed
Also should be lists for other classes because some of them, especially sniper, are played a lot.
eg sniper: sheep, justin, clockwork etc
pyro: enigma
Spy: harbleu ;)
And yeah sheep is a scout, there is an invite soldier called that or sheepy or something but that's not who we're talking about
Edit: how could you forget mirelin

Maybe instead of listing them by classes you could have them go by region, and then have a separate little profile listing the classes they are most known for, especially since some players have played invite on multiple classes (Platinum, alfa, smaka, b4nny, pyyyour, harbleu)
And yes this should definitely be done officially instead of somebody throwing some names together.
