2 hour delay then no STV for the second map
Still anticipating the map changing before the STV finishes

I woke up at 12:30 thinking I missed the first match but instead I waited 45 minutes to watch shitty ads about ESEA's counter strike divisions

Time to say fuck ESEA and make a TeamFortress.TV League and migrate all ESEA teams to it?

I agree with this. Entry fees are used to fund a LAN final for the top 4 teams, including LAN expenses and flights.

It should still be a paid league...let's just get away from ESEA.

call me crazy here, but I'm starting to think someone should probably try to set this shit up a good bit before everyone's supposed to play, and not just right before they start playing

of course that would require the lan to be by an organization not run by idiots

It's clear that ESEA has no interest in promoting TF2 or expanding the scene whatsoever.
Their ads don't show any TF2 footage at all.
TF2 wasn't installed on a TF2 designated computer.
90% of our entry fees go to CS players.
Orange stream not even handled by ESEA.

There really is no excuse for any issues. They had several days to check everything. Are the computers working? Games updated? Client works? STV works? They have been doing this for like 3 years. You'd think they'd have learned something by now.

And do you really think that the entry fees could really cover all this? Hell, I don't even think that entry fees could cover renting out a hall for the LAN to take place. You would need to get massive sponsor support before anything like this could happen. Face it, it is either ESEA or have no seasonal LAN. Besides, the problems with the stv/computers would happen anywhere and honestly they were fixed fairly quickly.

I don't think people realize how much competitive 6's needs ESEA to function as a competitive game.

I don't know if anyone was watching the 1.6 streams, but their stream would go offline every couple of minutes for the entire day. Things like these happen, we just have to hope that they don't repeat the same mistakes.

I don't know if you put much thought into this, but open players would have to pay much more than their moms would allow for this to be plausible at all. It's a fact that ESEA can hold a lan for TF2 because of the money it gets from the CS games.

You gotta enroll in a math class or something man. If you look at the money that ESEA pays in prizes, setting up tf2 servers, setting up lan events: there is no way that our money is going to another game. We don't pay that much in fees. Their money is actually going to our game so that we can have an invite prize pot that isn't tiny because of how little money our game actually brings into esea.

I know it's really popular and easy to blame esea for everything, but go look at what cbear said in response to extine. They don't make that much money on our game. They do us a big service because there is no other league that could get us the amount of attention they do. Are the unprofessional and shitty in some of the things they do? Of course, but if you look at the big picture esea is keeping 6's alive.

The only legit excuse they could have would be that TF2 updated fairly late yesterday and they should have needed 15 minutes to update TF2 on every computer. No way should they have wasted 2 hours+.

so they're terrible at streaming CS properly, too! good to know

there's no excuse for this, I've seen more consistent streams from people running tournaments in their basements. they've had god knows how many years of doing this, and they seem to fuck up every single time there's a lan

Tri's update pooped itself and somehow deleted TF2 or something. So they had to format it
My computer kept blue screening so it had to be swapped out

I dunno about the STV though, that was pretty silly

It's not like ESEA helps any teams get to lan right now...If the LAN was held in Chicago, many people could simply drive there and bring their computers with them. They wouldn't need to rent that large of a room to house 12 people at a time.

ignorance is bliss!

I don't know about this season, but torbull has used his own money to help tf2 teams get to lan. they are always willing to give the 4th place pot to a team before lan if it means they can actually get there. I don't know if you think a lot of players live in Chicago or something, but for the California players Dallas is probably a better choice and bringing your own computer isn't exactly a good option for a lot of people.
