I figured we should make a thread just to talk about how people played, so I thought I'd post some opinions to start it off.
scouts-
weeble- probably the worst scout performance at lan, he seemed unused to the 5 ping lan rockets and was dying a lot.
omar- had some good moments, seemed to play kinda smart, but DM-wise outclassed by some of the better scouts.
clockwork- definitely a few good maps/moments, but not at the level of some of his historic LAN performances, not to be a hater but underwhelming giving the high standards he's set for himself.
yz50- on the flipside, yz50 really came back and had some of his best play I've seen from him in years. I was especially impressed by his performance during the 2-2 first half of snakewater against mix^. however, his playstyle meant that, when mix^ stepped up, they were kinda shutting him down. still, very good overall.
cyzer- was hot and cold, had some games where he was tearing it up and others where he was probably the weakest scout on the server.
hero- VERY strong for his first esea LAN, didn't have that many mega carry games but didn't have many bad games either, really solid throughout, props.
ruwin- kinda dormant for the first day but RIDICULOUS in the grand finals, super impressive, dominant performance there.
enigma- played amazingly all LAN, his DM was on and I think he undeniably had the smartest play of all the scouts at LAN, from backcaps to key picks to offclassing. probably the best scout performance at LAN.
soldiers-
tri- not a super strong performance from tri, idk if this was indicative of his play or the overall shutting down of chess club but he really didn't do much.
Tagg- had some really nice plays on all the maps but couldn't really salvage anything for his team, tough to call considering the team's overall performance.
boomer- definitely stepped up from his previous LAN, hitting a lot of nice rockets and doing more dmg overall. still, in the games where the whales got shut down hard, he was really bearing the brunt of that more than anyone else, bottomfragging most of the time.
blaze- holy shit, easily the roamer performance of the LAN. blaze was hitting every direct rocket, pulling off every med pick, and staying alive for so long. ridiculous play.
tyrone- the same LAN tyrone as always, DM a few notches above what it is online, just an overall solid but not spectacular performance.
Dave__AC- wasn't doing as much damage as blaze, but his jumpy style was providing a lot of good distractions. I'd say on mid fights he was helpful, but on viaduct he was weaker than a few of the other roamers. decent overall.
TLR- just as blaze was head and shoulders the best roamer, TLR was very clearly the best pocket. he was hitting the ridiculous flashy airshots, yes, but he was also having some of the best ubers I've seen a soldier have on LAN (right behind platinum last time around). sick play by ptr's older brother.
harbleu- very solid play throughout the LAN, was not getting good kds but that was because his team was so successful at baiting his aggression and following up. gr8 spy plays too.
demo-
kermit- seemed to be strong at first, and one of the things keeping chess club in the game, but kind of fizzled out a bit. idk why really, tough to say. I thought his dmg output was ok, maybe the team's overall performance is more to blame.
dummy- his DM was definitely on all LAN, was hitting every pipe and putting out massive dmg. however, when whales started to lose it seemed like dummy was tunnel visioning and getting caught out. decent but other demos played better overall.

b4nny- like most people, I was going into the 2nd day completely certain that b4nny would by far be considered the mvp of day one, until the grand finals happened. I dunno if it's because LG's playstyle requires b4nny to extend himself and kind of stare down scouts and others to dare them to rush him, or if he was just having a bad day, but damn, mix^ SHUT HIM DOWN, especially their scouts. I think that means the demo of the LAN award has to go to...
Platinum- yes, his damage was overall lower, but that's because mix^ doesn't use him as the source of like 45% of their damage by himself, nor do they need to. other than a couple botched rollouts, how many mistakes did Plat make this LAN? I hardly saw any. plus that 4 airpipe streak on snakewater was crazy. demo of the LAN.
medics-
stultus- seemed to play well despite his team's finish. I can't think about his play without the 3k with needles so maybe I'm biased. still, good job bruh.
mesr- despite not winning LAN, mesr played a fuckin RIDICULOUS medic game, with his performance on the first viaduct against LG being perhaps the best med play I've ever seen. his dodging, positioning, and crossbow aim were great and he still put out good heals.
shade- other than in terms of UCDs, I thought he played very well. his team kinda needs him to risk himself a lot, and he stayed alive a ton considering.
Pure- idk if it was his team being so good or his play, but pure just didn't die. it's kinda hard to not call him medic of the LAN when he was just always alive. still, all the medics were super close this LAN imo.
thoughts? obv just my opinion

LG vs br0 is easily the best series of lan.

B4nny's viaduct performance makes him Demo MVP in my eyes. Platinum played well in the grand finals, but he had a much easier time of it with TLR playing out of his mind in the combo fights.

Mustard, you said the big brown was the worst on the server sometimes. Take it back!

i feel like bro scouts underperformed and it hurt them alot
other than that pretty much what everyone expected and STULTUS 3K

the worst scout, not the worst, all scouts were playin well
also if he was the 4th best scout on viaduct he was still usually better than all 4 soldiers lol

think u got cyzer and hero backwards, cyzer put in relatively solid performances all through the game and was performing well in grand finals despite team struggling, hero had some really beast games but also a couple where he put up like 100dpm and went super negative

I would agree with you if we're putting more emphasis on the grand finals, where cyzer was consistent across both maps

EDIT: cyzer + b4nny carried LG as hard as they possibly could but it wasn't hard enough to dethrone the champions, Classic Mixup.

Thank you *Insert ESPN Personality* for the in-depth post lan analysis. I'm positive you watched enough of everyone to come up with a well argued and nuanced opinion. Up next, stay tuned in because after the break we'll bring you our E-SportsNation poll: B4nny, still #1 Demoman in NA or sole cause for his teams demise at LAN?
1. Still #1
2. Cause of Loss
3. B4nny?
4. I don't watch this sport.

i feel like mesr performed the best out of the medics, although i didn't see the second day of games
there were a lot of times where he had to make snapshot decisions against kritz demo on viaduct and he dodged so many ridiculous things

That was the intent. Get rid of LG's main damage source and best DM with it's best counter, you win mid. You win mid with b4nny down, they lose.

platinum outperformed b4nny on his own class in the grand finals. but b4nny didn't have TLR or ruwin on his team, so it's hard to judge

Agree. His dodging was some of the best I've ever seen. I remember a couple of times where he was surrounded by enemies and somehow managed to surf away with like 40 health.
