if you've noticed that all fonts look a bit different in chrome, it's because directwrite is enabled by default as of a few updates ago
I can't stand what it does to small font sizes (particularly Verdana -- it's what posts are rendered in on this site and what's used on reddit) so I've had it disabled for a while now
to fix:
- head to chrome://flags in your address bar
- search for 'Disable DirectWrite'
- hit 'Enable'
- restart browser
the phrasing is beyond confusing so I've attached screenshots:
