vibhavpflameassemble a fake update page, fake patch notes, a tf2 frag video made in source filmmaker, and a ridiculous comic and published it as a 'leaked' update
Reminds me of the Fancy Vs Nasty Update, and the Night of the Living Update. Even though they were unofficial updates, Valve took notice of them, and added many of the items it introduced into the game (The Fancy vs Nasty update bought in the Frying Pan, as an example).

FvN brought us the Boston Basher as well. Just want to mention that.

Well, it's kinda not official, so nowhere near every TF2 player knows about it.

While ur not wrong, pushin tf2c as a whole helps legitimize and consolidate comp tf2 for the average player. Something that isn't helping is Open+ players dicking on kids as demo or whatev and calling them subhuman subopen trash or whatev because even if it is fun, it only alienates people. Making it feel like people of all divs take it seriously promotes a learning atmosphere, as well as makes it feel like a serious thing where people are trying to win, ala csgo. You can call CSGO MM salty, toxic, and bad, but you can't say that you get a serious competitive vibe from it. Conversely, even higher level public pugs in tf2 are taken as a joke 90% of the time.

You need everyone playing on one system to have a chance at balanced, fun games for all skill levels at all times of the day. Tf2center is extremely well done, but doesnt have the playerbase to support that.

the solution to getting everyone playing one system, is to get them to all play on one system. In an ideal world, we'd have more people of higher divs interested in trying to roll the shit out of lobbies, and a high enough number of them that lobbies do not instantly get rolled all the time. A ranking system etc could be useful but in the end wouldn't really be necessary, just getting more people visibly and publicly playing 6s. Part of the reason CS does so well is that it always had a high quality pug service available in some form. This allowed it to appeal to people interested in actually getting good at the game to have both a barometer and a training ground. Right now, TF2c is neither, and that drives away people who are interested in the game as a serious play 2 win type thing, without attracting people who wanna fuck around.

pls stop ruining lobbies

ranking to keep those higher level players out of low level lobbies would be good too

one guy stomping a lobby is never fun, and a new player holding your team back sucks just as much. tf2c will never be particularly good until we have skill rankings. And those are incredibly hard to do with the different classes

If TF2center had skill rankings, that'd be much better, and being able to set a lobby type meant for high level, mid level, or low level players only. The problem is, that there are a few people in those community who thinks it's fun/okay to just troll people, go on alt accounts, and be able to use those alts to stomp lower level players. I feel like this is a problem with Invite/high IM players making an open team just to stomp/win 1st place/etc.

I haven't heard occurrences like this happen much in CSGO or Dota 2, cause the people are mainly focused on their own ranking and want to improve. Not saying it's a MAJOR problem, but it definitely might be an issue to just have players stomping around, cause it can discourage players to give up, quit, and stop trying competitive due to those players.

It's probably happened already or still happening time to time. Even if we just lose those "few players", each player counts in our situation and it's immature to do so, which is one of the few minor things holding TF2 back a bit.

EDIT: Also, what about attracting players from other games like CSGO? Maybe have them learn about competitive TF2 and attempt at it or try it out. One way to do this is maybe to compromise with some known CSGO teams, have them sponsor a TF2 team, not maybe support financially, but have them on the roster and be able to use the tag legitimately, and give out info on it, and maybe get actually CSGO invite players to try out competitive TF2. It could be like 3 invite TF2 players + 3 Invite CSGO players vs 3 invite TF2 players + 3 invite csgo players, it could be like an event stream and the CSGO players could spread the word, gain viewers, and show others what competitive TF2 is like.

trying to drag players from other games when u haven't even tapped the relatively easy market of ur own playerbase is dumb

u need to get pubbies into 6s, and u need to get them enjoying it enough to come back
if u want valve to support comp obv

if you just wanted a ranking system for TF2c, you could do a simple one with UGC levels, if nothing else u could sort never played, kinda played, and actually played players relatively well.
