I was going to play csgo tonight but now that there are internet points on the line I may have to play more tf2.
This is huge.

Also, it's cool to look at the number of players ranked as each class and get a picture of how large tf2 is.

Honestly for consistency, these rankings should only pull from logs with all of the appropriate plugins (sup, med, etc...). It might be a hassle to make this happen, but it must be possible. I'm sure zooob or F2 could help you figure out a way to filter those.

It really doesn't make sense to have a mixture of both.

-If a good player trolls or plays recklessly they don’t get a good rating.

Does having a tf2center ban affect rankings?
Does subbing in for a center count for rankings? (since logs would be skewed)
Do logs without damage stats count for rankings?

I really wish to know how some of these ratings came about when it's obvious that some people's stats should not be where they are placed. Also I appreciate all the work you put into this site, it's really neato.

Sorry for not making this clearer, it's obviously a design challenge for me to meet, but I'll state it as clearly as I can. If you are in a game/log with no damage the only people that affects you against are the other people in the same game/log who also have no damage. It has no effect on comparing you with the wider group. Having no damage in a log does not put you at a disadvantage against the wider field.

It does, but it doesn't skew the ratings, time participating is taken into account.

Yes but this isn't a problem, the only people the rating compares you against are the other players in that log.

Logs only record time participated with the sup stats plugin.

And it was mentioned before that heals per minute is an important statistic for med (which you need the medic stats plugin for), so what's the point of counting med logs that don't include healing?

I still think it makes more sense to only include the logs with all the appropriate plugins (and there's certainly enough of them to go off). Otherwise it's kind of an unfair playing field. But that's my opinion and I'm just one man.

If someone uses your tf2center stats to prove a point about your quality of a player, that actually give you something to make fun of them for. Like how dumb do they have to be?

Xalox has just popped up into 2nd place in the Demoman ranking with a relatively modest DPM and KD. The reason he wasn't there before is that he's only just got the qualifying number of logs to have a trustworthy rank.

The quantity of participation will probably be a problem for NA players, but only because they may not get enough entries on logs.tf to get a rank.

We upload all tf2center matches to logs.tf regardless of server plugins, although it helps if they have SupStats2 installed

You can now login via steam and update your name! It’s a bit of a rush job but it should help anyone who’s not happy with what they’re currently called on the site. There will probably be a bit of lag between the update and your name changing in the ranking lists. It seems to be working for people but if you get any problems let me know.

Addressed the heals/damage per minute problem a bit. Things may still appear a little odd if a player's sample size is small as they may have been in a particularly aggressive of passive handful of lobbies that distort things.

Also about 100 people have updated their name since the ability to change it went live.

Thanks for the heads up, this seems to have been a heisenbug as it started working when I looked at it. It's correcting itself now, should be up to date relatively soon but there's quite a lot to process so expect some wild variations in the immediate future. Probably be a few hours to process everything that's missing

Under the player search recent popular searches are now displayed.

Finally in the player profile window a player's position in the list can be clicked to show the context of their ranking, and who is currently around them. You can also use urls generated from these links to link straight to a specific results page. For example

Links to page 4 of the scouts on TF2 Pickup without having to navigate to it first.

A problem has been brought to my attention where an old cached script wasn't updating stopping the site working for some users. I've altered things so it shouldn't happen any more but if you have a problem then try doing a shift + refresh to force an update.

found that when I clicked on my name to view my stats I couldn't close my stats page as it just kept re-opening. Didn't stop until i refreshed my page.

There are some new additions to the site, the most important of which are more detailed profile pages accessed by clicking the “More stats” link in the player list or on the player profile popup.

Other small changes include some tweaks to slightly improve things on mobile displays, and some recent algorithm alterations.

I've tweaked the way the inactivity penalty works, now for every 10 games you have on a class there is a day's pause before the inactivity penalty starts mounting up, so players who have strong participation records have more stable ranks.
