So my MSI GTX 970 is idling @ around 58 celsius, which is kinda high.
my cpu idle temps are fine, its just my gpu.
I run 2 monitors, 1@144hz DVI and another @60hz HDMI.
Is there something wrong? do I have to increase the fan speed? is that even considered normal? just to keep me out of worrying.
thanks.

you're perfectly fine at anything below 80. my videocard fans don't turn on until it hits 60 by default.

As long as your load temps are fine, you shouldn't worry about warm idle temps.

would that be useful?
Was about to suggest the same as #5
It should definitely be lower if you didn't change the fan profile.

what matters is your load temp

I don't want to make a separate thread so I'll just ask here. My i5 3570k has been going up to 80c (maxes out around 80, doesn't go higher) under load when playing certain games (not TF2) which turns the fan speed to 100%. Should I be worried?
It idles around 50c if that matters at all.

Yes 80C is way too hot for that CPU: http://ark.intel.com/m/products/65520/Intel-Core-i5-3570K-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_80-GHz#@product/specifications
The heatsink is probably not mounted correctly.
(Look at Tcase on the spec page)

I thought Tcase temps were read differently?

my g1 gaming 970 idles at 30 and doesn't reach 70 when under load
as long as your load temps aren't too high (75-80) you should be fine

Stock or aftermarket cooler? Overclocked?
80°C is a completely safe core temperature.
#10
Tcase != core temperature.
Tjmax is 105°C on Ivy Bridge, up from 98°C on Sandy Bridge.

Stock cooler, not overclocked. I'll probably go get an aftermarket cooler in the near future anyways so I have the option to overclock (plus I feel like this temp is still high.)
Thanks everyone who responded.

80°C peak is completely normal on stock.
Keep in mind when running stability tests for overclocking that they push the CPU way harder than normal usage (~+10°C), so if you get <=85°C peak with the usual suspects (prime95, aida64) I'd consider the CPU cool.
