I loved Yugioh way back when. I remember going absolutely crazy when I found out that they had an actual card game, since up to that point all I had known of it was the show. I never had any friends who played it though, so even though I'd get booster packs and make decks, I only very rarely got to use them.
The pride of my collection back then were the original actual God cards. My mom got them for me as a reward for getting my black belt in karate after 4 years in some youth-centered school. Silly, I know, but hey, 9-year old me wasn't complaining.
I was always disappointed that they never made an actual card set out of those armor cards that what's-his-name used against Joey at one point...

Played with my bud almost every day after school. During that time, his parents worked late hours so they'd always leave us money for food. Binge on pizza and Yugioh and saved tip money for more packs of cards. Pizza place hated us but fuck them I had to believe in the heart of the cards.
You guys can play online against each other for free at duelingnetwork

Game is awful, especially in comparison to MTG.
There's basically no interaction in any matchup. Either you literally win on turn 1-3, or you entirely lock your opponent out on turn 1-3. The odds that both decks fail to do anything after the third turn are basically nil.

PankeymanSealed Block Constructed = Block Draft > Legacy > Vintage > Modern > Pauper > Yugioh = Tossing my money into the wind = Standard > EDH > Walking barefoot across a field of Lego bricks > Tiny Leaders
Playing Standard is just depressing. Maybe it won't be so garbage once the new 2-block format rolls in? I'm still only ever going to play Eternal or Limited formats, though.
Why would you put block over standard? Block is basically standard with fewer options and there usually being one card that roflstomps everything (Jace in Zendikar, Tempered Steel in Mirrodin 2, etc.). Besides, GW devotion looks sweet right now.
Modern is a turd for the reasons laid out in this article.
Pauper hasn't been fun since they banned everything. The fact that you can't play it in paper because the banned list is for MTGO and you have stuff like sinkhole at common IRL makes it even worse.
Tiny leaders is amazing, are you kidding? It's a brewer's paradise. So many awesome decks.

Yugioh was the shit when I was 7. Went back and watched 5 mins of an episode when I saw the thread. The voice acting is the single most over the top thing I've ever heard.
my friend actually subs arc-v and is like one of 20 judges
what a player
he also was the one who came up with the infamous gas chambers line in arc-v episode 16 so there's that

my yugioh craze lasted for about a good month when i was younger, but i was always a mtg man at heart
I used to play at local tourneys every weekend for around 6 years when I was younger; I quit around the time they began really pushing Synchros and it was fairly obvious Konami planned to keep rehashing old ideas as new in order to sell more cards.
Having played mostly pre-Synchro I wouldn't agree with that sentiment that games were decided in 1-3 turns, on average games lasted around the same or longer than most mtg duels, but Yugioh always got a lot of hate (much more so in recent years understandably) for being the "inferior" tcg which always made me a little sad, since it's what I had gotten into and really enjoyed as a kid.

I quit in the second E Dragon format but I love playing old formats with friends (troop dupe, perfect circle, plant synchro, ddt, goat control, etc)
Add me on Steam and we'll play some
DN is SavageFPS but I am never on that

I like watching the animated series with my BRO pankey :)
i played a long ass time ago and got runner up at pretty big tourney back when the game didnt involve u having to summon the alphabet to win the duel rip yugioh u will b missed
This was great in elementary. Had so much fun with elemental heroes near the end. I tried playing it a few months ago with a simulator and literally every opponent was using the same 3 decks that consisted of the biggest horeshit. Synchro and xyz were already weird enough but what the fuck is this pendulum business?
Recently started watching it with friends again, I never remembered all the bullshit, like when Yugi fights panik "I was attacking your castles flotation ring!"
Also in grade 5 I tried to organize a yu gi oh tournament in class, some kid showed up with a full deck of blue eyes and monster reborn he printed off at home.

I'm a pretty big fan of Yu-Gi-Oh, especially as of lately. We used to have a TF2 YGO group back in natf2 and it was pretty fun...and by fun tyranny kept rekting all of us. I quit Duel Network though, it's too slow imo seems too weird looking to me now. I use DevPro now which does things for you(correctly mostly of course) and goes at a much faster pace than DN, can customize cardbacks, backgrounds, and music. It's also a great way for beginners to learn how to play Yu-Gi-Oh imo.
You can get it here http://ygopro.de/en/ and Mirror 3 is the working one apparently, but the website is down right now so here's a megalink https://mega.co.nz/#!M44nUIwD!FOHE6a4ejrD6oIjglDTiBOJ4qrQgnC_-o7_Vv13FU18
If you want a look at it, here's an example of it being played here: http://www.twitch.tv/slaydra/v/3768081
Also, back then I use to be one of those synchro-haters, but they're not so bad, my new common enemy is XYZ's and Pendulums a bit now. I been watching 5D's lately and it's pretty damn good. Relevant:

But yeah, if you guys want to try out DevPro or learn, feel free to add me! Maybe we can start up the group again and do some tag duels(yes you can do tag duels in DevPro!).
