What happened to the old TFTV score layout?

So this scores layout was used back when the TFTV stream hud was based on OMPhud

But for some reason ever since you folks switched to bxhud layout, the score tab changed to this old VanillaTV score tab layout which looks way worse and professional than the old one.

I can see that the VTV score tab layout works a bit better for bo3, but I really think a better looking, layout similar to the old one can be done.

Stuff like this show you that a layout can be made minimal but also can correlate to the hud and look good.

As far as I understand, we use the VTV scoreboard right now because it's the only full NodeCG-compatible scoreboard available and partially because it displays the scores for all maps in a matchup. We have considered doing a redesign to modernize it and bring it more in line with the TFTV visual style, but we don't have the resources to dedicate to a graphics overhaul right now.

bit better for bo3

main reason as far as i remember. this was used before NCG graphics too, it was a TFTV EU thing pretty early on.

opinions are torn over keeping this kind of layout or going back to something like the screenshot.
less clutter vs. showing information without people needing to ask

The VTV-style layout is an improvement over the OMPHUD-era layout.
Here are some pros:
- is aligned and aesthetically paired with an already-present HUD element (the killfeed)
- enables consistency between BO3's and single matches
- avoids the natural location of the clocks (top center of the screen)
- balances out the HUD elements on the left and the bottom of the screen

Here are a few cons worth addressing:
- doesn't have room for full team names or avatars
- dedicates a lot of space to the current map name, when the map is already apparent from the gameplay footage
- lots of elements in a condensed space, requires a small font yet is still cramped

Why don't we just put "won cp_blah" in the outside of the team names on the omphud overlay?

Pretty sure someone made this thread years ago as a TFTV vs VTV thread. That was when there was rampant fanboyism from both sides and nothing constructive came of it.

It's worth noting that the original scoreboard was designed for ESEA games where they only play a single map. That means that the scoreboard doesn't even work for the standard two map ETF2L games. Then when TFTV moved to mathsad's overlay which used a new style scoreboard but only worked for one map we used that in Europe for a little while rather than using the existing scoreboard which was a window capture on an executable that made a window appear which could use 3 maps. For the entire period we used that we had an uncountable number of questions from chat every single cast asking "second map?" "score first map?" etc. Since moving to the new-new scoreboard that has the new scoreboard style and can extend to 3 maps all of these problems have been eliminated.

The new overlay is objectively more functional than the previous overlay. The only argument to be made for the old overlay is that it looks a bit prettier. The current (overlay in general) needs a redesign and we're discussing it but it isn't easy to design an overlay that works with either 1 2 or 3 maps and matches the in-game hud and also matches the main overlay. I think it might also be worth adding the scores to the main overlay too so it would need to match that overlay as well in that case.

I think this is rather personal preference, I for one think the Vanillatv scores are much more professional and aesthetically pleasing than the old tftv one.
