Fistful of Frags has a button in their main menu that says "FoF competitive league linking to the competitive league's page". I think that's all valve would need to do make comp tf2 grow with minimal effort and everyone would know competitive is a thing.
because FoF is a community owned mod where as TF2 isn't BUT HEY TRADING MMM YEAH GIMME THAT MONEY -valve
valve isnt the greedy stereotype thats constantly plagued every single spuf post for the last 3 years
however yes, they have moved onto other things and put minimal effort into what is tf2
but as far as adding a button, maybe even a link to tf2 tv in some sort of "other resources" page, its possible.

i mean we sent a heart filled letter reaching out to valve for support and no response so what makes you think they would do it on there own

they don't want to spend time with the game because there is no reason to
if they add a button which would take two seconds to implement comp would grow and then they would have a reason
wasting time and money into matchmaking just for it to possibly not grow would hurt them, a button would not

This won't do anything for valve, especially when time could go into keeping tf2 trading alive.

disregard this thread, cerael and tojo are delusional.

After Lange's emotional video was made, we did receive a reply. It was not a dismissal either, but don't get your hopes up. But they certainly haven't blanked us, and some members of the community are in semi-frequent discussion with some staff on the TF2 team.
It's not all doom and gloom! They do care about tf2.

people know that there is comp csgo right when they launch the game
I'm sure there is a lot of people who still do not know that there is comp tf2 and have over 100 hours

And we say that as if they won't change. Who knows dude. Let's make a fucking petition or something and maybe they will make a button that will link to playcomp.tf. We are probably just newer players in the comp tf2 community that want to believe but why not try.

My friend is the founder of the FoFCL and that button only exists because he talks regularly to the creator of FoF who supports the idea of a competitive league.
Valve is not the creator of FoF nor will they ever be.

Look, I'm not just trying to shoot you down completely, but I think that if you spent maybe two or three weeks just sitting back and watching how everything goes, observing the flow of the TF.TV community, you'd understand the attitude and argument a lot better.

Counter Strike is kind of in an awkward position in this argument because the game was competitive from the start, and only very recently has it gained a casual following. Dota probably makes for a better argument, though the same words from your post could be said about it.

The thing with this button is that it would require little effort to put in the game, so why not try to have it put in
I agree that Valve could do small things which would provide a big boost to us as a community, but I can see also why they wouldn't want to. Our version of competitive tf2 is pretty far removed from their (and everyone else's) idea of tf2.
RainofLightValve is not the creator of FoF nor will they ever be.
I never said they made FoF
I'm just saying why can't valve add a button similar to that. There is no reason not to because it takes two minutes to make.

This is basically what happened with the letter, and every attempt to reach out to Valve prior. They've stated that they don't enthuse with the 6s community because our version of the meta is far different than theirs. This is part of what Arena: Respawn and recent HL whitelists are trying to do.
cereallet me just downvote everyone I disagree with

I rarely see huge numbers of downvotes past like -5 or -10 on really big topics, unless it's incredibly stupid shit that ends up getting deleted later. There's a lot more than 5 or 10 people disagreeing on this forum.

nobody has explained to me what is bad about adding a button that takes two minutes
the only argument that I've heard is "why would we spend 2 minutes making a button when we can spend 2 minutes on csgo?"

The problem (from what I can tell) isn't that it's to difficult to make the button, it is to hard to make valve do it.

Really? Read the thread fully.
Valve doesn't want to support a community that disagrees with them. Simple as that. The current competitive meta doesn't agree with Valve's meta, for the most part.

I honestly don't think Valve cares about what their game is like at this point or else the short circuit wouldn't be a thing. They only care about money and the button would only make them more money.

Preaching to the choir, buddy. The 6s and HL meta are the way they are for a damned good reason.
The HL meta is essentially the TF2 meta refined for competitive. 6s is almost its own game.

It's been almost two years since we last heard from Valve what they thought. Let's not be presumptuous to think that their mind hasn't changed at all in that time.
