I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a HL lft forum since there are many new users creating HL lft threads on this site as of late. I know UGC is the primary place to look for this, but new traffic for the site wouldn't be the worst thing in the world right? (Or maybe I'm completely wrong and tf.tv turns into a HL forum....)
edit- Scratch that, IDK why I thought this was a good idea to begin with.
edit2 - ok maybe not a bad idea afterall.

UGC does already fill that need but it certainly wouldn't be a bad thing, might make the site more accessible for newer players.

I think this would be a good idea if only because the ugc forums are atrocious

somewhat related, do the UGC forums run painfully slow for anyone else?
i want to browse them to answer potential questions and stuff, but it takes forever for anything to load for me.
am i just spoiled by tftv?

I've had no problems with loading recently Kevin

I think it is silly that you have to create a "ugc forum" account in order to post on the forums regardless of whether you already have a "ugc" account. You should just be able to use the same account you use to roster on teams to post on the forums.

IMO a good solution would be to filter out the hl and 6s posts into two different sub forums, similar to looking for team and looking for players

I think that the major problem here is that most of the people who are looking for HL teams here won't get one because most of the HL community sticks to the UGC forums
I doubt any players on tftv will be looking for a spy, pyro, engineer, etc

I dont get this whole segregation of the community by gamemode, the site is called teamfortress.tv, not tf26v6.tv, I think every installment of competitive tf2 deserves to be well represented within the site.
Sure UGC have forums, but it wouldn't hurt anything to be receptive of all gamemodes here, specially with matchmaking around the corner.

Sure, creating a forum here to be all-inclusive would be nice, but I don't see it getting used much. There's an old subreddit that had LFT/LFP posts, but the more active posting grounds have always been preferred.
To add, ETF2L's HL players probably wouldn't make much use of a sub forum here either, given that they have their own recruitment system (And I like it much more than UGC's, because of all the nice filters and stuff).

The UGC forums are shit. It might be worth giving it a go and see.
We want to encourage folks, not drive every new person who comes by interested in comp TF2 to some other website.
Not to mention that a fair amount of people here play HL, why not make it easier for folks to try HL with people from this community?

As a casual lurker of the forums, I've noticed that the Highlander forums do not seem very active. The LFT threads aren't really inhibiting any discussion, but... that's only because there isn't much discussion to obstruct. I don't know if having a dedicated forum for LFT/P threads will resolve either of these issues, but if this can potentially prevent alienating users by directing them to another website, maybe they will stick around after they post their thread and engage in discussion more?
