Not sure if this was mentioned elsewhere, but I'd recommend Eve no Jikan also. Short 6 episode anime.

I could easily recommend you most of the stuff that was aired on Adult Swim in the mid 00s, but excluding most of those, I would suggest possibly Eden of the East, Noein: To Your Other Self, ef: a tale of melodies/ef: a tale of memories, No. 6, Haibane Renmei, Ergo Proxy and Casshern Sins. It's hard knowing what to suggest considering you are new to it, but I'm sure one of these works of art would be of interest to you.
Satoshi Kon's work (Paprika, Paranoia Agent, etc) might also be something you might be into.
