Is there a specific niche or need that this site seeks to fill, besides "Admins and a team who aren't idiots"? Is the goal to just become the main source of lobbies for TF2? Would love to hear more about the advantages, unique features, and how you're trying to position this.
Best project I've been a part of in a long, long time. Everyone involved has been nothing but committed, dedicated and a pleasure to work with and sometimes even I get surprised by how much people are able to accomplish and how quickly.
As well as Kevin himself of course, much love to Capu and the graphic design team for making the site look sick thus far and our beloved R.E.M. for bringing us all together on this project in the first place.

Super proud to be apart of the TF2Stadium team and I'm super excited to how much progress has been made in such a short amount of time.
I look forward to playing matches with yall soon.

"Admins and a team who aren't idiots" is already an amazing selling point considering the state of NA TF2 right now LOL

everyone's excited about the *look* of it?
and apparently i missed something, but why the sudden hate against tf2c? do we really want to fragment the already small lobby community?

Some members of the TF2C staff, from top to bottom, are irresponsible and unprofessional. It led to a lot of drama, and people are sick of their crap.

I have to agree with this, sadly. This website looks gorgeous and was apparently developed incredibly quickly, but TF2C is the standard at the moment and the vast majority of its userbase are either ignorant or ambivalent to the drama surrounding its founder and some of its admins. People need to be given a real reason to use this website over TF2C, and even then, it'll be a very slow and painful process to make this the new standard so long as TF2C is still up and running.
Trust me, I wanna see the pervasiveness of TF2C circumvented as much as anyone else -- well, perhaps less than those who worked on this website (major props on the speedy and passionate response to creating an alternative to that website and the shitheels behind it) -- but this just seems like an alternative to TF2C for those who are upset by the drama which is a very small portion of lobbygoers. I don't want to see this website fail, but as #32 said, this website needs a little more footing to excite and reel in the TF2C users who don't know or care about the drama.
e: I mean, when all you can do to try convincing someone that TF2C shouldn't be used is link them a shitload of drama to read and catch up on, as #41 did, you should reconsider your angle. That alone won't make this website the new standard for lobbies, if that's what it's trying to do. If all it wants to be is an alternative for people in the know who don't want to support TF2C, then power to you. I'm happy to use it no matter what once it takes off.

etherWhy can't we just get tf2lobby back.
because everyone wants to play a lobby system with no communication!

but tf2center mumble lobbies are generally terrible :l
Smarter people will migrate to stadium while dumber people can stay in center, win-win!
phobiabut tf2center mumble lobbies are generally terrible :l
I would rather have some kind of communication then no communication.

I love that design... looks fresh! Maybe center will take stadium as a bit of competition and fix at least some of their problems. Probably won't happen though considering the situation with MN and all... :/
Also the mumble issue really can't be fixed. People are trolls and/or idiots, better to just local mute.

is there any possibility of making this work with the steam overlay browser in the future (like tf2pickup)?

It would be very limited if they would design around that

GetawhaleWould love to hear more about the advantages, unique features, and how you're trying to position this.
Our core principle of openness is what makes us different from any other similar site out there. We are designing every aspect of our project to be democratic and involve the community. We opened our code to let anyone contribute to development and we have organized ourselves in a way where everyone’s opinion is equally important. We are passionate about creating a service that not only we want to play on but one we want you to be happy with too.
Unfortunately, as just about any developer would understand, I would be uncomfortable promising any features before our devs 100% confirm it. We are actively discussing features internally along with taking feedback from everyone. Our goal is to put this all together into something that is more than just another lobby site.

so i caught up on all the drama (thanks reddit, teamfortress.tv) - yeah, ok the situation sucks.
but this is not an easy service to run. i know y'all think it's just "some code" but operationally sites like tf2center are difficult to maintain. hence my comment about stadium looking nice and all, but it's going to have to be so much more than that.
the competitive community in tf2 is small but instead of joining forces and working shit out, it is constantly splintering further and further. what should be personal conversations explode into public, self perpetuating scandals...
there need to be better, more diplomatic, and less hysterical (and i don't mean funny) ways to solve this. and who is to say that stadium is not going to have yet another bunch of shitheels behind it? maybe they're nice now... but the comp community doesn't exactly have a great track record in terms of management. (the top players still play in ESEA despite the fact that they fucking hacked your computers (twice now) and that the people who run ESEA have been laughing at the tf2 comp community while essentially holding it hostage...)

Considering Kevin successfully ran all of those and helps run newbie mixes I can't think of many other people who would be better suited to taking this on.
Not to mention it's open source

Hello everyone, so glad to be working on this project, we have some really talented people from across the TF2 community and I'm excited to see what the finished product looks like.
but this is not an easy service to run. i know y'all think it's just "some code" but operationally sites like tf2center are difficult to maintain. hence my comment about stadium looking nice and all, but it's going to have to be so much more than that.
We understand the importance of having a smooth running site. We have a dedicated dev-ops team waiting to run & maintain the site once it goes up. All of the people involved in our project, regardless of their role, are skilled and experienced and many of them have a previous history working on other sites related to the TF2 competitive community.

Kevin is an all-star in the community and has hosted several several tournaments that went off without a hitch and also runs newbie mixes, is working on a tf2 documentary, and other things as well.
REM is proven from TF2center to be one of the admins on that site that isn't a complete trainwreck (and also ran maincall when it was a thing).
I'm not sure about the others but if Kevin and REM are working alongside them I'd think they'd get my endorsement as well.

I don't want to take credit from where it's due. There's a pretty significantly sized group of people working really hard behind the scenes on this project, some of whom have already mentioned their efforts in this thread.
Thanks, though. That really does mean a good deal to me.
