My brothers are 12 and they were 10 when I introduced them to competitive TF2. The first thing I showed them was a TLR frag video. Ever since, they keep asking me if I'm secretly, TLR, despite the fact that I've said no each time.

I had a sociology project in which I had to show how competitive gaming affected society. In doing so, I showed the various amount of time people played, I showed them a picture of somebodies profile with 200 hours and they didn't care, and then I showed them b4nny's number of hours and the next question from literally ALL of my class was if I knew if he was fat or not.

I have a friend at work who thinks he's the best player in TF2 because he has an australium and can top a scoreboard in a valve server. I haven't told him about competitive yet, nor have I asked him to MGE me. He also has no idea that I also have an australium, so he constantly calls me "low tier."

Somebody thought I had modded Super Smash Bros. Melee when they saw me play TF2 because my hitsound is Fox's melee reflector.

My dad knows I'm into a lot of competitive games, but TF2 is the only one where he will watch over my shoulder, boo at me when I'm losing, and then when I ask why, he tells me he's trying to prepare me for "when you finally leave Open and go to LAN". I haven't told him yet that I'm not open and that he'd be the one paying for it.

I follow both TF2 and Melee, and my brothers try to as well, however, they frequently mix up names. They once accidentially called Mango "b4nny" and vise versa, as well as having confused Cyzer and Hugs.

my father used to call tf2 "the army game" and then he'd quote my calls as "lets get em around the corner" ..he ALWAYS used that exact quote though hahaha

first time goin to ETS i was crossin back to murica and the dude asked why i was in canadia and i told em for a video game competition, he asked what game, i said tf2. turns out he had like 2k hours pubbing, and also frequented the restaurant i worked at. fuckin small world man. (said restaurant was ~4 hrs from the border)

turns out most of the time i would have to explain to my parents that i couldnt go to where ever they wanted me to go on some nights because i had a "tf2 match" or "scrims" and i would explain to them that it was like having to go to baseball or soccer practice when you were a kid only its at night and behind my computer.

I also tried explaining "e-Sports" to this one kid in my hs that was oddly interested at what i do at home and he kept thinking i was trying to say FIFA or Madden Football....

one time my dad was talking about how loud i was when he was trying to sleep early, then started yelling things such as "PUSH VALLEY", "MED DOWN" and "SCOUT CHOKE". it surprised me he remembered so much

like two years ago i was watching a ggglygy stream and my dad walked in. he watched for 15 seconds before asking "he's an idiot, isn't he?"

I also got my dad to play a round of Dustbowl and a lobby. On dustbowl he wanted to do only engi (since he is actually an engineer lol) and on the lobby he would call out every death, yelling 'Med down Med down' when the friendly medic would die, fortunately he was massively carried so he wasn't reped
