I've always been in awe of singing more than anything else, especially being able to hold long powerful notes perfectly and pull off some sweet vibratos and stuff, my favourite being Bruce Dickinson, lead singer of Iron Maiden. Some of my favourite examples are The Nomad, Paschendale, and recently Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 1 2 (I definitely suggest listening to the full songs!!). An example of another fantastic singer is Eyes of a Stranger by Queensryche. I've also been told that the singer for Judas Priest has some great singing, but haven't checked any of them out.
Anyone know any other great operatic type metal singers, or even some specific songs by Maiden, Queensryche or Judas Priest I should check out?
Rock on
EDIT: If possible, give the best example you can find of the person/band please, I don't want to listen to one of their worse songs and maybe be unimpressed

I've always liked Serj Tankian's voice and he is more operatic in his solo projects.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtUxPg9jRLM
As a heads up it's not dedicated metal and his voice isn't as operatic as those listed before.

Phil Bozeman from Whitechapel is an incredible vocalist if you're into that style of vocals. Also check out Myles Kennedy from Alter Bridge if you love cleans / singing, guys got an incredible voice and can back it up live too.

TurinJames Labrie in Dream Theater prior to '94.
I saw them last year at a festival after not having seen them for a good few years. If you think it was bad after he damaged his vocal chords, go see them now...
As far as singers go, Bruce Dickinson is definitely my favourite and I'm glad you mentioned some Brave New World-and-later songs. I'm going to assume you know the new Maiden album just came out; it is as good as ever. All of the longer format songs on The Book Of Souls have awesome singing(and the shorter ones too!). My favourite ever Maiden song is The Thin Line Between Love And Hate, thanks in part to the chorus vocals.
Have you ever listened to the Bruce Dickinson solo albums? Songs like Navigate The Seas Of The Sun, Eternal and Book Of Thel to name but a few are A++.

Loving all the downvotes on the protest/Whitechapel vocalist comments. Despite the genre of metal, they're still fantastic.
Scott Kennedy from Bleed From Within has brilliant vocals on their latest stuff. But this thread is for old ass metal so I dunno why I'm still posting this lmao

Nightwish was the first symphonic metal band I ever got into, and I'd like to think the vocals are a huge part of what makes them so special. Despite having 3 different singers since the band started, I'd say they have a style that matches what you described as operatic!
