Regardless of how anyone feels about Brightly, I think we can all agree that DDOS'ing a website over this is very immature. The only people this really hurts are the members of the community who use the website to play TF2. Jokes aside, this is really quite sad.

Honestly, despite the questionable DDOS protection of tf2c, they should have possibly banned Brightly long ago. If it's true that he went full time engineer when he picked up medic or any other stuff then that would definitely be a bannable offense. I would assume that other people who have done that in the past has been banned temporarily at least. It's sad to say but if he had been banned appropriately this whole DDOS situation could have been avoided, or have good DDOS protection in the first place.

If anything the big question right now is what to do, comply and ban Brightly? or let it keep going? Maybe he will stop or not, I assume the ddoser plays tf2centers himself if he knows of Brightly's actions, and he won't be able to play himself either. It'll be worse if Brightly moves to tf2pug.me while tf2center is down, then the attacks on tf2pug.me will start happening and that will be even worse.
EDIT: Apparently Brightly hasn't even TF2'd since 4 days ago according to his profile, so no idea what to say about that.

Exactly, in my opinion, people bitch way too damn much, but do jack shit to change the situation, they are too damn passive. Trolling has been around for years, this is no different. If you want to change the rules, then fucking do something about it. TF2 has been around for 8 years. The community is mostly a good bunch, we have sfm makers, workshop artists, competitive players, the middle, and newer players needing some guidance. TF2 Center is a monument of that community, and DDosing it is fucking taking that monument, and throwing it away, not giving a shit about the other people in the community. The community is, for the most part, a great place. Don't destroy 8 years of great people.

i thought this rule has been around for a while so i don't know how brightly isn't banned after disregarding it for so long and with so many people complaining about it

also highclass heavy is a pleasant dude but the fact he himself would play an incredible amount of heavy in 6s games seems to show a personal bias justifying excessive offclassing

I appreciate the kind words, although assuming I offclass heavy because of my alias is a little disheartening. Heavy is currently my second least played class at 22 hours of Heavy played, only beaten by 21 hours of spy. I dont really offcass very much as I enjoy the meta of 6s.

realistically the rule should just be better written ie no offclassing if you add up as anything other than scout/roamer.

maybe i'm exaggerating because of your alias, i just have distinct memories of you offclassing as heavy more than the average person and this post of you defending brightly just kind of cemented my opinion that you're more on the side of supporting fulltime offclassing as being unique or innovative

anyways, "effectiveness" of offclassing really shouldn't be considered when it comes to doing it excessively. that makes things complicated when it comes to enforcing rules by saying shit like "___ is a good sniper so it's fine but you're not so you're banned". in #tf2pugna people got banned for fulltime sniping just because that shit wasn't fun, it didn't matter how good they were at sniping. it honestly seems like a super easy thing to enforce

You have a completely legitimate point that I have participated in lobbies where my team screwed around, even if it isnt my normal lobby. Whether or not that should be something that is discouraged or disallowed seems to be a very split opinion within the community.

I am of the opinion that a player should play the game to win, and it is up to his or her team mates to decide of you are contributing to the team's objective. However my opinion is only one of many representing the TF2C community.

Its not about winning. Off classing can ruin the experience for both teams, regardless of the game end. Sounds like its time to fully solidify those rules and enforce them.

Provide all relevant Steam ID's he has used and IP addresses. They might ignore it now, or perhaps if they have received other intel about this kid DDOS'ing others, maybe they'll go after him. You better stop kid, what you are doing is a crime and can land you behind bars. He might be using a VPN, but chances are he's signed into TF2C and tf.tv multiple times without one.

Go idea but wont work at all considering unless the DDoSer is totally brain dead he will be routing through a proxy so you have no idea who the fuck it is anyways....

The issue with that is skill level comes into play, go put a invite player in a silver game and he can play ANY class with ANY loadout and he will win the game for them. It wont be fun for anyone and just be a waste of time, so please good idea but in practice its shit because most people in the lobbys are bad in the first place and secondly just because it "contributes to the goal of winning" does not mean its fun or viable in any way shape or form....
