I have tf2 installed on my solid state drive. I want to use the 'startmovie' command, but id rather not write a shitload of .tga files to my solidstate. Anyway to give 'startmovie' a commandline argument for a certain directory? other ideas welcome

It defaults to your tf folder.
However I think (emphasis on think) that there are some recording tools that ask you where you want to save your movies.

#2 yes it defaults to tf folder, which is on my solidstate; hence the problem.

Lawena and ScrDemo2 both allow you to output to separate directories.

Doesn't lawena just grab the tga+wav and move it to a different directory?
SrcDemo2 intercepts the write entirely (via dokan). Also has built in frame conversion to PNG and JPEG. And a host of other post-processing effects built into it.
Some problems with srcdemo2...
You can't have the tf folder open or Dokan can't mount the virtual file system. There are NO indicators that Dokan has successfully mounted, aside from the fact that "startmovie" is so much more faster because all my writes are going to the SSD instead of a separate physical drive. Near-fatal flaw in my opinion but I still use it...
