We'd like to point out a few issues that we had with this tournament so that they're prevented from future events.
Firstly, if you're going to host a tournament, please use rules from an existing league such as ESEA. Carter was literally unhittable in tonights match and while he claimed it wasnt on purpose, from everyone elses eyes on the server it looked as if he was clearly rate hacking. Carter has also already stated that it is playable on his end and that "it looks much worse than it actually is". We requested they get a sub immediately if he couldnt fix the issue as we already had to deal with this in the upper bracket and refused to play against it. ESEA has rules against rate hacking and they would have been forced to get a sub if this was played in their league.
Second, the admin that we had to complain to about these issues was tsc, a b4nny stream viewer/sub/ and moderator, who was clearly catering to froyotech when we brought up the issue. Froyo was not forced to use a sub and we were forced to start the match due to a forfeit timer on the server. Carter then proceeded to get a 4k on the first mid while being unhittable and top damaged the server for scouts.
I'm making this post not just to bring up the issues with this tournament but to also please a couple of my teammates who were upset that we simply gave up when a single admin (tsc) wouldn't deal with this issue properly.
TSU is refusing to play in any tournament that tsc is even remotely involved in from now on.
Also good luck to ascent if they decide to deal with this bullshit.
EDIT: My wording is poor, I'd like to point out that we don't think carter was intentionally rate hacking but he had the same effects as if he was rate hacking and it is clearly an advantage for froyo when one of their players is unhittable. They should have been forced to use a sub when his attempt at fixing the issue didn't work. I'm not upset with any players on froyotech this post was intended to show our issues with how the tournament was run.

Honestly though, just watching ash from the stream was fucking painful. Can't imagine how retarded it must have been to play against that.

Not commenting about what went wrong/right here, just would like to point out that the job of tournament admin is often a thankless and incredibly stressful task. Remember there's a person behind it, who no matter the outcome of the tournament, he poured his heart and soul into it.
Tournament admins know when things have gone wrong, and already feel horrible for it. We are gutted when things don't go to plan.

I didn't talk to the guy so I can't really comment about how he handled it, but I was told that he was also the one managing the casting stuff and that he was a little more focused on that. I think it would probably help if there was at least 1 person who is dedicated to the tournament and nothing else.

Yeah, just I want to quickly point out that running tournaments is ridiculously complicated, and making everyone happy is never going to happen. There were decisions I made in REALTourney that I have come to regret, and it's stuff like this that makes me hesitant to run tournaments ever again.
The notion that tsc had some kind of benefit in making the call that ash was good to play (whether it was the right or wrong decision) is not rooted in reality. I think if tsc is guilty of anything, it would be overbooking himself in what he was managing. Running both the tournament and the stream is not typically a good idea.
All this said, ninjanick and company have (across all tournaments of mine they've participated in) been the kindest, most easy-going participants I've ever dealt with, so I'm assuming that there were some serious mistakes made by the tournament staff. I hope this can somehow resolve itself, and I do hope that you would give tsc, one of the hardest workers behind the scenes in tf2, a second chance should he ever run another tournament.

All the things wrong with this tournament and it's some idiot "rate hacking" that prompts this kind of post?

what's the appropriate amount of someone's lag in order to force them to get a sub? is "some stuttering" okay but "lots of stuttering" just too much?

ashSo the last few days have been a wake up call for me. I've been using insulting words freely without realizing how badly it affects my team and our scene. It's immature and unprofessional especially when representing one of the top teams in the game, as well as disrespectful. The damage is kind of done but I still wanted to just apologize to anyone I might have offended. I'm really looking forward to i55 and I know this wouldn't be possible without the community and their donations. I don't want this event to be stained as a result of my behavior and I sincerely apologize about this and will be trying to conduct myself professionally going forward.
lol

Why would he ratehack anyway? In my opinion, he doesn't need to hack in order to win anything as he proved himself at i55.

i highly doubt carter was doing it on purpose, that isn't even the point. it's hard to villify someone for not doing the super sportsmanship move when it is fully legal according to the rules. the point is that there isn't a rule enforcing the issue and that those in charge who can over rule the fact that is isn't there did nothing about it.

I completely understand the issue and this sucks. I was just answering to the people saying that ash "should be ashamed" for something he has no control over. I hope it doesn't happen in the future.

I was trying to make a joke. I was saying that ash should be ashamed for needing to use "rate hacks" to win a game in TF2 but you see the joke is that froyotech win everything anyway. I don't know anything about rate hacks I was just trying to make a joke.

Ond_kajaSo tsc was catering to froyotech players by not enforcing a rule which doesn't exist?
the rule should have existed in the first place, like in other existing leagues.

really? i didn't see any rate hacking at i55 and in esea and they won those, i don't see why carter would turn it on for this tournement, if they can win everything else without it.
edit - aperantly was a joke idk how i didn't realize lol sorry
