Why would they give a date exact to the day if they actually plan to release several months earlier?
Just in case everything blows up - they have to give some date before which preorders are guaranteed to be fulfilled.

The skins are terrible and for one reason:
They change the actual model
if they didn't change the model and were just different palettes/patterns (like the csgo weapon skins) that would be awesome
look at the reskinned reaper
now if you didn't know that was reaper, there is absolutely no way you would know which character that is because the model is vastly different from anything else

sombrezsnip
totally agree, they fucked up so hard
its like theyre removing identifiable character traits or cosmetics whatever, like with reaper you have the mask, welp fuck it remove the mask hahahahahaha good luck with esports hahhahaha

Was super hyped, now I'm kind of unsure how I feel about this game.
They should make skins how they made the bastion skin, just a few different colors and some stuff on it
instead of changing every single part of the original model

Don't forget to head over to over.gg for these discussions, friends.
Gotta get all the top players using over.gg so it makes overpwn look like the gamefaq forums of overwatch
if they want $40 bucks for an esport game they better fix their optimization problems
Wat, did they just reveal reaper before the game even launched?
Lmao Blizzard, what are you doing?
Also agree, the skins could be terribly confusing once there are more heroes in the game. They're not as identifiable as tf2 characters. Maybe they'll be optionally deactivateable clientside.

its been well known reaper has been in the game for a while?

the skins should be deactivated for everyone automatically (disable all skins, not just your own) so people dont get confused, and there should be an option to turn them on

I think he means revealing reaper as in revealing his true identity. It seems such a poor move tbh, even before launch... The character itself was really cool for his misterious silhouette, mask, etc... Also a skin which totally changes the silhouette and the character itself is horrible, specially regarding competitive.

Yes, they even gave him a name; this makes no sense, his lore page needs to be rewritten now?
REAL NAME: UNKNOWN
AFFILIATION: UNKNOWN
Also lol@blizzard mocking their customers at the end of the trailer

Not too afraid of the skins, but I think there will be an option to deactivate them.

Only the reaper skin is sketchy imo. Skins with just a color change aren't very imaginative or very popular. In LoL no one ever went "oh man, i really want golden alistar." In dota they try to make the hero remain recognizable while still having the cosmetics make it look significantly different. It's a pretty tough thing to balance and the reaper skin went over the line a bit but you guys are making way too big of a fucking deal about it lmao

This is also never happening. If no one but you can see your cosmetics it's no different than the free client side reskins in steam workshop stuff and no one is going to want to buy it.

overhauled cosmetics aren't too bad of a thing, it's the overall silhouette that still matters in the long run. that's the actual issue with the reaper skin, by taking off a lot of the armor padding on him he looks like he should be a completely different character
Have they announced any useful information about the game yet (server tickrate, hud modification, crosshair support, disabling certain effects, fov, etc)?
I know they said no to a lot of this stuff but that was 6+months ago so maybe they're changed their minds

fov has a slider and is automatically set to the highest
highest/default fov is 102 horizontal
also the skins are based off the character origin stories apparently, they're called the origin skins
the tracer skin doesn't look like a pilot though

Base game is 40 dollars, 60 is for skins and shit. It's weird people were expecting a $20 pricetag on a blizzard game when they've been charging $50 for expansions for years.
That being said, I don't mind 40 dollars if they don't lock heroes/maps behind a paywall. If they do that it's game over.

They're very clearly dodging that question, so there is reason to worry about that.
Same because in the origins bundle thing it says "Includes: 21 Heroes" so it makes it seem like you'll have to pay for them
hopefully it's just blizzard trying to advertise the fact they have more than twice the wacky characters tf2 does tho

If they go the league/heroes route I'll probably just buy the base game and ride it until it gets bad.
